:rofl Joe Frazier and a couple of others may disagree with that.

Seriously, why do people talk about Ali as if he was unbeatable - even in his own era???

This thread sucks. But let's imagine one thing for a second. The Ali-Haye press conferences would have been epic.

Ali vs Haye...who knows, it's all hypothetical. Could have been a blowout, a close fight, or a surprise victory..it's all pure speculation.

I do believe however, that Ali is vastly OVERRATED, and so are most other boxers from past generations. It's called nostalgia, and it's human nature to believe things from the past that you enjoyed, are better than they are today.

Boxing, like all sports, has undergone tremendous change in the last 40-years. European nations are now able to compete, and many times beat, the best the US has to offer, in sports the US used to completely dominate.

Look at the number of European players in the NBA now compared to 40-years ago.

Look at the track and field records from 40-years ago, and look at how many of those records still stand today.

A big problem is that since the US isn't the leader in the showcase division of boxing today (heavyweights), people assume boxing is dead, that the fighters are bums, etc.. That's all media BS. They are simply trashing what they can't beat.

All sports advance, athletes get bigger, stronger, faster, and more skilled.
The world does not stop for boxing, it advances just like all other sports.

Again: The world does NOT stop for boxing.
