    This image was supplied to us Jake Bowers; his great aunt Janie Frankham's son was Johnny Frankham. Jake believes the image showing former light middleweight champion "Gypsy" Johnny Frankham standing over Muhammed Ali (then Cassius Clay) having just floored him in an exhibition match.

    Thanks to Johnny's son who has confirmed that this did take place in an exhibition match. More details will follow!


    Contributions to this site like the above are most welcome. In time we may be able to feature more sporting stories; boxing in particular has strong connections with Gypsies and Travellers.
