I think he has a very good case, everything considered. He was written off as early as the Cuevas fight and to think he beat the much bigger, fitter and stronger Barkley in that war 6 or 7 years later. I was lucky enough to sit with Duran and Barkley a couple of years ago in Cardiff, the size difference was unbelievable. If you didn't know that them two had fought each other you wouldn't of believed it. Consider this as well, Duran made his debut as a bantamweight, Barkley went on to win titles at Super middle and light heavy and weighed 231 for his last fight.

:huh But Griffin doesn't count surely as Roy 1st won the title vs ancient McCallum, not MG. Or was that just the interim or something? I can't remember rightly.

    Yeah, it was interim.

Duran vs Leonard and especially Duran vs Barkley were close fights too, and in reality Pacquiao did beat Marquez so if we're dealing in reality his best quartet are strong.

But it's irrelevant anyway really, as his best four aren't quite as good as Duran's, the SRL win is very special indeed.

Armstrong for me. Annihilated a tough champ and southpaw, gave Ross the worst beating of his career, dropped down and outworked Lou Ambers. Ross its an ATG, Ambers is a Hall of Famer, and Sarron isn't far behind. Plus he held Garcia to a draw. Although Fitz isn't a bad pick.

yeah, was going to put fitzsimmons myself. the dempsey win at middle was huge.

the win at lightheavy is very very good.

the win at heavy was huge. the only middle in history to become the heavyweight champ of the world.

i don't consider toney ( who cheated anyway) or jones. they got a title, not THE championship.

I actually couldn`t remember that one myself, I just took his word for that one knowing that the result was the same anyway, Roy winning effortlessly.

I think Duran`s are still better tho, Roy was in his prime for all of these fights.

All great wins but Armstrong was at his peak and it was over a short period, can't believe I'm picking holes in Armstrong's resume but was Ross a true welterweight, was Garcia a true middleweight? I'm only saying this in comparison to Roberto's span of title wins, age and size of his opponents.

17 .lbs lighter than Corbett, and 14 years older than Gardner.

    That's about it.

Can we substitute Hill for Andries?

Hearns beat everyone at their own game

WW - Knocked out Cuevas who had the record for most consecutive title defense KO's in the division

    LMW- Out boxed Benetiz

    MW- Out slugged Roldan

    LHW - Out boxed Hill
