Surely he wouldn't walk away if this is the case. Its easy to say now once he's gone that they were going to come up with half a mill. Don't believe it.

Out of all this business Australian boxing has become a laughing stock worldwide , and some questions need to be answered ......

There MUST have been an agreement between Vlad Wartons millennium events and golden boy promotions to be paid upfront , apparently Jeff Fenech paid that cash and lo and behold Shane Mosley arrives in Australia ready for the bout , Vlad and millennium events had to stump up the rest 1 week before the fight which obviously didnt happen so Mosley said goodbye Australia . Now Vlad is saying he had been held to ransom or wasnt going to be extorted to wire that much money into an overseas bank account ....
That is supposedly unprecedented because fighters get paid after bouts after taking into account gate takings , ppv $$ , promotions etc etc
so who is lying here ?

Is Shane Mosley being unreasonable with his demands , what are the demands ? , did Vlad agree to pay Mosley cash upfront then with poor ppv sales and poor ticket sales reneged on his deal ?
The whole promotion of this fight stinks and the legacy of this debacle is that world class fighters wont want to come to Australia or deal with Aussie promoters because ****wits like Vlad Warton (who ironically lives overseas anyway) , Khoder Nasser and the like have virtually made a laughing stock of oz boxing promoters with the circus's they promote and fighters would probably fear not being paid ......

I agree. The original poster would probably cry if his car got scratched but can laugh on the internet about one of Australia's greatest boxers losing 500k go try to make a good fight for Australia.

BULL****! Promoter pays for production (around 50k), Main Event puts it to air & gives promoter 50% of the take.
Therefore, Main Event would've never offered as much as a cent for fight to happen, nor would it guarantee possible income.
Main Event mob ain't Salvation Army :p

Truth is, they breached their contract by not making the second payment on time. Mosley was well within his rights to leave. If you are going to front $300,000 in the first instance, surely to **** you would have the second payment of $300,000 and the third of $400,000 ready to go? Or risk losing the first $300k and the Main event in one **** up.... Wow...

Warton didn't give a rats ass cause none of it was his money to begin with. What kinda promoter doesn't get a sponsor or even have the cash to put it up for the promotion.

obviously shane was getting 1 million GUARANTEED + any PPV OTE.

So no, 1 million was guranteed which means has to be paid regardless of gate and PPV and etc. Thats not his concern.

In any case, he has walked away with 300k and i doubt this fight will ever take place.
    :hi:

Mundine now claims he is going to USA with Khoder to salvage the fight in hopes he can make it happen before Xmas. He also claims he is going to speak to Mosley man to man and offer him a bank cheque for the remanding amount.

My question is, why didn't he organize to do this the day before Mosley departed the country when he knew the fight wasn't going to take place. For me its a case of to little to late.

Better yet - why didn't he organize this from the start under BOXA? Why ever involve Wharton in the first place? :huh

James Prince - from mosleys management talked about it in an interview with Boxing Scene after mosley got on the plane saying Mosley was interested and available if the money was right.
