Champion boxer Anthony "the man" Mundine has criticised Redfern police for "blatant racism" after a case against his cousin was thrown out of court. Mundine was at Central Local Court this afternoon to support his cousin, Matthew Coe, who was pulled over on January 28 in Redfern and found to have $3900 in his car. The court heard that officers had conducted the search after pulling Mr Coe's Nissan Skyline over for a traffic offence and smelling cannabis smoke in the car. There were different versions from various police witnesses about what happened next, but it was alleged that Mr Coe told officers the car belonged to his cousin and he had "never seen the money before in my life ... but I'll claim it". After questioning by a number of officers, Mr Coe was charged with having goods in his custody which he was not lawfully entitled to possess. But this afternoon Central Local Court magistrate John Favretto dismissed the case, finding that there was reasonable doubt whether Mr Coe had committed an offence. "There are different possible explanations as to how the money came to be in the car," Mr Favretto said. "If there's a possibility which is consistent with innocence and a possibility which is consistent with guilt, then I have to accept that which is consistent with innocence." Speaking outside the court, Mundine said that the money was part of a larger sum that he had lent to his cousin. "The problem is that the police can't accept that a black man could be in possession of a large sum of money, and that he is actually entitled to it," the boxer told the Herald. "He obviously got pulled over because he's a dark fella in a good car. It's blatant racism and harassment. "This kind of thing has happened to me and it happens to Aboriginal people every single day." The police officers involved arranged for the money to be returned to Mundine. So Mundine states he lent the money to his cousin but the cousin states that he has never seen the money in his life. One or both are lying.
Just a routine check up...****'em I was pulled up not long ago for a breath O liar and I was innocent as always :deal
You can see this... I can see this...but somehow it escaped the Magistrateatsch Go figure:roll: err... I wonder if Mundine lent him the car as well?
Wow... I think this is a new low for mundine, I do believe in standing up for the aboriginal justice system and speaking for the rights of the community , but does it seem mundane has no clue at all for wat his actions represent? And how much of a fool they make him look even more
