I've explained how racism works, I've explained how a minority supposedly being racist towards the majority really loses most impact & power, if you wish to debate that, tell me how you'd feel being called a "white ****" by a black man, given the historical relationship between black & white Australia, & then reverse the situation & assess where the power lies

I'd love to see you explaining that to some kid whose just been rolled and bashed for being white.

    ****s sake.

I understand having a historical dislike of white people, but in this day and age the average bloke is not racist. He just wants to get on with his life. There is no institutionalised racism in a place like Sydney. In fact, there are institutionalised advantages given to Aboriginals as attempts to redress the wrongs that have been done to them. I think that's great.

You sir are a ****ing parrot. You're evidence that mature age students should be made to pass some kind of intelligence evaluation before being admitted to courses where you'll be subjected to the sort of propaganda you spew.

I have absolutely no idea what that last sentence is supposed to mean & how it pertains to me, giv en you know absolutely nothing about me

the example you put forward is just as much an act of extreme violence & oportunism, it still doesnt have the same kind of psychological damage in a racist sense in the same way if its reversed, the only mitigating instance i can gain from your argument is age & understanding of the historical impact of racism

The average bloke is not racist??..You really think so?? it may not even be that apparent, but in my opinion a whole lot are, if not in an overt way, at least in their own mind & in private, but you've provided no data, the same as i havent, so we both just have opinions on the subject, mine differs from yours

I dont know that the "institutionalised advantages" actually do redress the wrongs, i'm not sure material goods & services ever really address what has transpired & the whole history of what has happened, unfortunately

Surely you can see how power plays a huge part in racism, thats all it is really, an attempt to put people down & when all that has already transpired is added, its not that hard, whereas the reverse is almost impossible

If you were in Africa, i'm sure you'd feel more awkward, but still you'd have that knowledge of how the black African man has been treated through history

I've been ridiculed in foreign countries when i'm trying to converse with people in their language & making an absolute **** up of it, i'm sure theyre all jibbering amongst themselves as they've laughed that i'm a dumb white ****, its a little unsettling but theres always that sense of never been really persecuted for skin colour, race etc

I bristle at British, percieved superiority more than anything, perhaps you've noticed ;) thats why i like geeing them up, create a reverse situation

Still, for the sake of their future generations it must be gotten over. There is no alternative.

Whats being done isnt a negative, i'm not saying its a bad thing, but its largely cosmetic, i agree that future generations have got to somehow jump over the barriers, i still think its largely psychological 7 a social problem, not just for Aboriginals but for the whole of society

If we put the unique Aboriginal culture on a pedestal 365 days a year & were truely proud of it as a nation rather than trot it out for the odd special event, maybe a lot of Aboriginal peoples self esteem & sense of belonging to the wider community would start to change, slowly but surely, i think most Kiwis have a far better understanding of Maori culture than we do of Aboriginal culture

Maybe has something to do with the ratio of Maori's to whites compared to Aboriginals to whites in respectives countries.

Most city based Aboriginals are clueless of their Aboriginal roots and heritage these days. Most dont even know their native languages, and historical cultures.
