Perhaps I didn't translate my thoughts as accurately as I would have liked before. All I'm saying is that for people to embrace and learn more about aboriginal culture in today's society, the culture needs to be more evident, and that comes from within. Atrocities occurred before that prevented aborigines practicing their roots and cultures. Nowhere have I said or implied that they dropped the ball by losing touch of their own roots or that it wasn't forced upon them. Society is far more accepting in today's day and age, and there's windows for aborigines to learn more about themselves. IMO this needs to be the first step to occur before the rest of society can learn more about it.
Pecks i think u should just shut up m8 lol, digging yourself deeper and deeper with the comments your making on this thread.
i think ur saying, "i dont know wtf im talking about so im just going to dribble some sht." Honestly m8 do yourself a favour and dont say anything at all, ignorance is no excuse for the sht you have been writing on this thread.
We bch and moan about boat people yet look at what occurd to Aborignals? displaced, disease, land stolen, culture taken away from them, children taken from their mothers arms etc etc... its a stark contrast, if this had occured to white people there would have been another WAR. Infact if i recall there was a war over such attrocities, the man who started this was was named Hitler. What you fail to recognise is that the British did a similar thing and invaded Australia by boat, raped and pillaged this land but you just ignore all that and blame aborignals for the loss of their culture. Now ill ask you one question, why do you think the goverment appoligised to aborignals? educate yourself a little pecks and free yourself from ignorance.... Most of us are all talk, it doesnt hurt to discuss & debate subjects like this, do you propose that everyone with an opinion on something should get actively involved?? The outback isnt the only place indigenous Australians exist, the city obviously provides challenges also
Lol, once again tc you have failed to grasp the Context of my post. It's got nothing to do with the dribble you've just mentioned, it's in response to WOR saying how white kiwi's embrace Maori culture more. I'm simply saying that it's because Maori culture is more prominent in today's society than aboriginal culture and roots. Would it be fair to say that in 200 years time the world would be more educated about mars than they are today? Are you grasping yet? It might be too intricate a subject for your peanut brain to keep up with, but feel free to do your best.
how the **** do you know wher i've lived?? I actually lived pretty close to an Aboriginal hostel in Sydney, played footy with a few of the fellas that lived there & had numerous golf balls swiped on the nearby golf course in later years
I agree, i think Aboriginal studies should be compulsory in school, i did modern history in the HSC many years ago & studied China & Russia, whilst interesting it hasnt really helped me much, i would have much prefered to study Aboriginal culture, lore, history etc When we have olympics, major sporting events, cultural events etc, we trot out the obligatory dancers, Didg players, smoking ceremony etc & we all feel very liberal & happy with ourselves & its put back in the cupboard until next time, it should be at the forefront of a lot of things we do, its one of the really unique & interesting things that stand us apart from other English speaking, settled countries like America, Canada, South Africa & NZ
I wouldnt say that Aboriginals didnt have a "warrior culture" just because its different to the Maori doesnt mean they werent Warriors, obviously the climate, enviroment, landscape & culture were completely different
You're itching for an argument tc, it's obvious to see. But I'm afraid I can't help you pal as you seem to be on a different wavelength altogether. I'm sure you'll find one eventually though, and good Luck with that.
