It's all to do with the way of their life though mate.
Even though it paints us in bad light, the atrocities should also be taught. Like it or not, it's part of Australia's history, and a big part of it too.

There's no harm in learning about Australia Aboriginals in Primary school, it's interesting when you're little and is still interesting to school kids in 2012. We live in a multicultural society who scream racist when things don't go their way, **** everything goes your way when your white 'right?

All ready being studied other than the hunting, Art classes, French language and History, like Captian Cook but they only teach you what they want you to know, if they taught it all then Australians would be aware of the TWO AUSTRALIAS. Whats occured is a form of genocide, we learn about what occured to the jews at school so why not the Aborignals? to ashamed so they just dont talk about it and you rekon thats right?

Two wrongs dont make a right. Change comes from within and from todays youth who will become tommorows leaders. so much has been unsaid its a crime really. Did you know that they suspended the anti discrimination act and sent in the army to the NT at one stage? all but treated these people like cattle and im not talking about 20 odd yrs ago, its occured recently yet alot of people are un aware of whats REALLY going on.

Education is the only answer to this problem imo. now one of you wise arses will make a joke at my spelling i bet lol

Life is about moving forward, some have chosen to grow some have chosen to stand still and some live in the past.

Mel, their culture isnt their past, its their future which we need to embrace and support. Turning the cheek in the other direction is a step backwards. Our Goverment has only JUST moved forward with an offical appology or did you miss that one?

I honestly think people like yourself are so ignorant to the facts that they think they know better than everyone else. Which was the problem to begin with. Moving forward first comes with admitting to the faults, mistakes etc that have been made.

Do you not think it shameful that all past prime ministers wouldnt appologise? Do you not feel this is part of the healing process that this culture and its people require? would you not ask for the same thing if your children, lands, culture and rights were stripped from you?

Educate yourself before you open that trap. :good

There are many relevant subjects to study, Aboriginal studies would be no more or less relevant than a whole host of them, some people think its very important to understand our own history

Gee, a whole week of learning Aboriginal History

    History equates to guilt?? :think

What happened to the Jews/Slavs or perhaps the Armenians was a systematic attempt to wipe them as an Ethnic group out, that didn't happen to the Aboriginals.

Whats wrong with a week WOR (drop your condescending attitude). You obviously have your own ideas and it doesn't seem anything will suffice so what do you propose.
