http://www.aus-boxing.com/2012/07/17/anthony-mundine-earns-5k-in-win-over-mckart/ Anthony The Man Mundine earned a mere $5,000 for his seventh round TKO over Bronco McKart who made $15,000 on Saturday night in Las Vegas. These figures do not reflect sponsorship payments and pay-per-view bonuses that some boxers earn. At the time of the stoppage, Mundine was ahead on all 3 judges scorecards, (59-55, 60-54, 59-55).
That is meaningless as Mundine would have got the Aust. PPV $'s which is the real value of the fight.
From my viewing Bronco at least took 1 round with his agression. Some of the early rounds choc did hardly anything :-(
Hey Jase, how many PPV's do you think sold. I don't know amyone who bought it and didn't venture out to a pub at 11am to see what was no more than 2 journeyman fight for gatekeeper rights.
The pub i watched it at were expecting a big crowd, as its pretty close to Mundines local area but there would have been no more than 15-20 people actually there to watch the fight.
It was hard to tell who was actually there for the boxing and who were just regulars, it could have been closer to 10, but they were expecting a lot more, I got there about 10:15 and they were re arranging furniture and bringing more chairs out etc..
i use to go down to Grumpy's for the boxing, i use to live just down the road, the last mundine fight i actually made an effort to go down there and watch... it would have been about 11pm on a wednesday night and the pub was so full that people were standing on the street watching the fight through the window... times change i guess I miss Grumpys, popped in there about a year ago, seems they've given the place a new look.
The pub i was at had 5x more people for the Silva v Sonnen2 UFC fight then Mundines fight last Sunday.
Yeah Grumpys is great for the boxing, even nowadays if the fight is a mid week night one, its pretty packed, Mundine vs Alvarez was a pretty decent crowd and Mundein vs Wood 2 was chocka block
