He's only had 2 fights at middleweight. Taylor and Geale. Taylor was a waste of time, and Geale was a ripper, good for both men.

However, his entire move to middleweight was a farce because he was running from Kessler. Aside from Geale, have a look at his last 10 fights. What has he done? What has he done which resembles what he claims he is and was going to do?
Both hollow victories, for different reasons. Taylors because it's not much of an achievement for someone who is supposed to be of Mandys calibre. And Geale because it was a dubious decision at best.
I agree, the tournament should be promoted, no question.

Though knocking Mandy is well deserved. He is going back on his claims yet again, what else can be said. The media should hack into Mandy a lot more, he gets away with far to much bull**** and the public swallow it.
Do you believe in pink elephants?

Couldn't agree more, and that's the reason I begrudge him success and look forward, like many, to seeing him fail.

Good post, you addressed each sentence individually. Honestly, I could reply back to all but would prefer to save 15 mins of my time plus critiquing Anthony Mundine has been done for forever and a day.

Quick question, you don't happen to work at The Daily Telegraph?

Dude, there's definitely an argument that the Daily Telegraph is over the top in it's criticisms of Anthony Mundine. At the same time the Herald makes some ridiculous statements about his 'achievements'. That's just the mateship disease that infects Sydney sports journalism.

The reality is that Mundine is probably the best boxer in Australia at MW/SMW (although Bika might disagree). That's a great achievement entering the pro ranks at such a late stage. However, Mundine has claimed to be the best in the world. This is despite the fact he has no significant victory on the world stage - I don't consider beating an old, small Antwun Echols to be very meaningful. He has had two 'meaningful' losses (Kessler and Ottke) where he acquitted himself well, however he transparently does not want to fight Kessler again and he childishly disrespects the man the knocked him out. He also has the Siaca loss.

I'd would rate him a 50-50 chance against the bottom half of either top 10 (MW or SMW). There are Mundine haters on this board who rate him higher.

People like myself are forced to dislike Mundine because he compromises the principles that we like believe in. At the same time I would congratulate him on a significant victory or commiserate with him on a valiant loss. In fact, up until this point it has been his losses that have impressed me the most - until he starts talking about them.

I agree with everything you say in this post mate. Anthony only has one very good win on his resume imo which is his decisive victory over Danny Green who was a top 5 or 6 super middle at the time. As you say he did account himself reasonably well in his defeats against Ottke and Kessler. I also agree that he would definately NOT beat anyone in the top 5 at 160 or 168 at this stage in his career and like in the Geale fight will really struggle against even the guys at 160 or 168 who are just inside the top 10, because of this i am positive we won't see Anthony stepping up now although there are still a few diehards out there that will continually believe what Anthony says he is going to do even though he never does.

Its funny the only 2 die-hard Mundine fans on here think Mundine will continue fighting for vacant titles and paper belts avoiding the top 3 at MW, SMW and LHW. :yep....the rest of you guys are desperate to see him step up :deal

The best thing about this is we are very happy in our fighters top 4 status and while it would be great to see him fight a top 3 we will continue to support him no matter what he does. :deal

Its all the haters that want him to step up :deal because if he dont get beaten again he will be 3 division 5 time world champ :rofl.....without beating a world champ .....and that kills some people on here big time :deal

But this is what confuses me Ashley - why would paper belts please you and what pleasure do you get out of his false proclamations of greatness.

I can't even argue against your position!!! :think

Because I dont need to support the best fighter in the world....just the ones I like.

Its a bit like NRL....I have supported the dragons for 30 years....when the broncos came along all my mates in brissy jumped ship from their old NRL side to the broncos....I am happy if the saints come number 4 every year....I guess its the kind of guy that I am :yep

Same goes with Mundine Iam happy with his results and even if he fights Siaca, Manfredo and Green I will be happy. :bart

If I want to nuthug number 1 in the world like many others I will go to the main forum

Anthony Mundine is very similar to Chris Angel and David Blane. Basically everything they do is fake and trickery yet there are still people out there who believe it is real.

Dont agree....nobody here thinks Mundine is the best in the world :huh

Now I see him as 4th best at MW......same as he was at SMW.

To be honest Ashley I think the NRL analogy is completely wrong. It would only make sense if St George were playing Newton or Mt Pritchard and winning and declaring themselves champion despite having lost to all the NRL sides except Souths (Echols).

In all honesty Ash, if mandy is rated in your top 4 of 160 & 168lbers of the world then its not saying much at all for those divisions world wide. He is the B grade champion but thats better than being C grade champion.
