what I have been reading today with AA v strum in the works for early next year in a german super fight and strum having the WBA title and there rules with WBA when a fighter becomes a champion with another major belt like AA IBF strap, it makes the winner of the fight a super champion with WBA and the WBA declares the title vacant, SO the next 2 fighters ranked in the divsion fight for the regular title with WBA. Mundine is ranked 2 with the WBA. SO you all know what that mean if the AA v strum fight come off. :think I looked at the WBA ranking in 160 divison and the guy is Sebastian Zbik a germany guy. IT mite be hard to win the purse bid for Mundine because of the big money german promoters and TV companies. I reckon Zbik v mundine early next year most likely in Australia for the regular WBA title :yep. what do you guys think.
So Mundine fights for yet another vacant second-tier paper title? Gee, looks like all of his fans' patience has finally paid off
Yep TCW that's spot on. There's no way IMO Mundine will fight Sturm before Abraham does, unless Abraham snags a fight with Pavlik first.
Do I think Mundine will fight for a vacant second tier paper title if Sturm fights Abraham for unification? Of course - he's done it twice before with the WBA SMW regular title. If Sturm wins, he gets elevated to superchamp status, creating the WBA 'regular' title for Mundine and some other bloke to fight for. If Sturm loses, it will be like Kessler losing to Calzaghe - Mundine still gets to fight some bozo for the vacant title and then he can vacate it and move back up to SMW when a real threat becomes his mandatory, just like he did with Kessler at SMW.
In Michael Buffer's voice... "Forrrrrrrrrrrmmmmer NRL premiership paper premier, former two time super middleweight interim champion, current middleweight interim champion..." What a legacy.
They've been done to death. I just think it's time that we all just forget about him until he does something that warrants our attention. The forum has been great recently, with no Mundine threads and everyones focus on vic, and the Elomar debacle.
I'm in Japan atm as you probably know, but have enjoyed reading up on all the local stuff. :goodMakes me a little homesick in a way. I havent seen footage of the fight yet because I can't access the foxsports video section because of regional restrictions, but going by what everyones been saying, it's been more of the same recent Mundine which is a declining Mundine for mine. It's a shame. I really wanted to get on board the Mundine ship, and I was willing to take his cockiness on board as well. At one point I wanted him to succeed more so than any other boxer apart from Kostya, but loyalty is a two way road, and Mundine has created seperatism toward white Australians and himself over the years. I've gone from supporting him, to not giving a ****, and now I'd probably even support Green in a rematch.
I was once the same mate.I wanted Mundine to go on to greatness as i truely believed IF HE HAD BALLS he could of unified his division..He had all the tools EXCEPT BALLS..He was and definetly still isnt willing to go into the trenches. Guess thats what seperates a fighter like Calzaghe to Anthony Mundine. The guy has let his crap go on for so long that we are currently witnessing the RJJ effect. The decline of aFighters whos main tools were elite reflexes/speed through their superior athletic abilities. Suddenly they hit the wrong side of 30(33-34 in Both cases) and the tools they once relied on are diminished. No plan b as these fellas aint the type to get in the phonebooth nor would they know what to do other then jump in survival mode. Guess we will just have to look forward to Mundine's new game plan of staying out of asmuch trouble as possible/hanging on the ropes and 80percent of his output being through counter punching. Rjj started to use that technique in his early-mid 30's and we all know where that got him.. Not saying Mundine has ever been on same level as RJJ but one must admit he should of could of been.lol.. Frustrating when u watch footage of him v Green and Soliman 2 and then you look at the bull**** now.
Although I'm drunk now, I agree. Mundine's style isn't one that gets better with age. Someone like Green can rely on his style for longer periods thsn Mundine. Mundine should have hit it big after his win over Green. His prime for mine was his loss to Kessler up until the just before the Hamden fight, the guy that Briggs beat (forget his name). Of course he wasnt to know when his peak would end, but he should never have been fighting the level of opponents he has been for the last 3 or so years, and has now paid the price. If he seriously does have ambitions of fighting in the US ect, he should be kicking himself now as he only really ahs about 70% of what he did have to offer.
