ANTHONY Mundine last night called three-time boxing world champion Jeff Fenech a "nobody" and "pitiful" as their simmering feud boiled over.
Mundine retaliated after Fenech last week derided the impending third clash between Mundine and Sam Soliman as a "farce" in the making, insisting his ring return against fellow veteran Azumah Nelson had more credibility.
Angered by Fenech's withering description of the May 28 fight with Soliman at Vodafone Arena, Mundine challenged the 43-year-old to move up to middleweight so he "could teach him a lesson".
Fenech, who said Mundine's interim WBA super middleweight duel with Soliman would be "rubbish and a foregone conclusion" has urged fight fans instead to embrace his stoush with 49-year-old Ghanaian Nelson, also in Melbourne, on June 24.
But Mundine fired back: "The only foregone conclusion here is that Jeff Fenech will again be exposed as a nobody by Azumah Nelson.
"He's a nobody. All he ever had going for him was grit and determination. He never had boxing ability.
"I'd have beaten him in his heyday and I'd whip him now if he ever wanted to meet me at middleweight. It would be a real pleasure.
"It's pitiful that he should be fighting again after nearly 12 years out of the ring."
Mundine said Fenech was right about one thing . . . Soliman would lose to him for a third time.
"Every fight I have is a mismatch," Mundine said.

"I'm just giving Soliman a chance because every fighter has an ego and pride.
"But he will need a miracle to beat me. It was stopped in nine rounds last year and he'll be lucky to last that long again. He said he had problems before fighting me then - the biggest problem was having me in the other corner.
"I'm a Muslim and I can't allow myself to lose to a Christian. My people are persecuted all over the world and they need inspirational figures like myself, Zinedine Zidane in soccer and also fellow fighters like Sugar Shane Moseley to look up to.
"People can say what they like about me and my beliefs. I don't give a damn. The only entity I answer to is Allah."
Mundine insisted his disdain for Soliman was more than just pre-fight posturing.
"He tries to pass himself off as Mr Nice Guy but . . . I don't have any time for him as a person," he said.
Mundine also lashed out at Sydney fighter Sakio Bika, who he said was trying to duck him.
"I've offered him nearly three times as much as anybody else who's faced me but he's got cold feet because he knows he can't beat me," he said.

    Let me get this right:

Mundine is saying Fenech's fight has no credibility because Nelson is old, even though Nelson is much better than Fenech, who is a bum, so Fenech should instead move to MW to fight Mundine!:-( :patsch

Mundine is saying that every fighters has an ego and pride, but...he forgot to say that HE doesn't! If he did, he'd be fighting Kessler now, wouldn't he?

And are we to believe that the reason Mundine is going down to MW is to fight Fenech?:rofl :patsch

And...oh, God...he uses the same "I could never lose to a white boy" argument, but this time using religion instead!:patsch :-( :verysad :-( :verysad :-(

And about Bika - a straight lie - but what can you expect! Bika would LOVE to fight Mundine! He called him out many times! Bika's never been afraid to fight Calzaghe and Bute but he's afraid to fight Mandy - who is too small to fight the big boys as SMW!:rofl :patsch :-( :verysad :-(

I didn't think Mundine could sink any lower, but in one interview, he proved he's much, much worse than I could ever expect!:-(

    This guy's a disgrace! :deal

It's quite simple really. The Mundine-Soliman fight is at Vodafone Arena which seats about 8,000-9,000 people. Tickets would've been slow, why wouldn't they be, he KO'd Sam a little over a year ago. Same story, drum up some interest by saying ridiculous ****.

In the past, I thought from time to time I might have been a little bit unfair to this guy - maybe it was just business...but I was wrong. This guy's a nasty piece of work. Screw him!

Fenech v Mundine has been going on for years, hopefully it ends in the ring

How do you know he didnt offer Bika more than he has ever got before, my guess is you have absolutely no idea.

I have no idea of the goings on when it comes to money but i assume a Mundine fight in Aust or UK against Joe would have brought a little bit of $$$ - nothing to scoff at. Lets not forget Warren offered Mundine 50K plus rights to his future fights to fight Joe.

I dont find it hard to believe Mundine offered more than Joe and Bute to fight Bika. It wouldnt be too hard to organise and would get good interest.

    Mundine KO Bika :deal

Mundine is avoiding Bika, mate! Bika would jump at the chance to fight Mandy even for less than what Bute and Calzaghe payed him...

Bika wants to fight the best. Mandy doesn't anymore...

I should really organise a set of interview questions for Mundine and see if i can get an interview with him as he trains less than 3 kms from my house when he is up on the Gold Coast. Fellow poster TCW gets to watch him spar with his mate Les Sherro sometimes, maybe he could organise something :D

I bumped into his father one day and i was aww struck to be in the presence of a Aussie boxing legend.

What i find pityful is Mandy running the **** away from Kessler ,then calling out a long time retired "Real " Aussie ledgend , forget all the other **** coming out of his mouth that should be enough to give anyone a fair idea of what this fella is all about , all i can say is if you buy his next PPV v Sam then your are an even bigger idiot than Choc is taking you for and deserve to be ripped off .lol

No, I don't. But I don't for a moment think Bika wouldn't jump at the chance to fight him. If he fought Calzaghe and Bute in the other guys' backyards, he's not going to say NO to a big fight against Mundine, with a lot of money at stake, in Australia, is he?

He did well against Calzaghe and very well against Bute...no reason to believe he wouldn't do well against Mundine.

Bika wants this fight, he asked for it, politely, of course. Mundine doesn't, though...Bika is too good for him, it seems...Fenech, Soliman...well...this is the calibre of opponent Mundine is after.:-(
