    Mundine confirms next fight

ANTHONY Mundine is preparing for a December return to the ring, and the cocky Australian isn't worried about whether or not his eye sight will return. "I'm fighting in December baby, my eye is coming along fine. But even if it isn't quite right I'm still going to go ahead with this because thats what it's all about - boxing."

Mundine, the WBA champion after Mikkell Kessler was awarded super-champion status suffered a severe eye infection which led to the champion boxer being partially blinded and bed ridden for 10 days. "It was very frustrating man. I've always been active my whole life, it sent a real scare through me, but I've come out of it stronger, and all the better for it."

The former rugby star wasn't at a loss for words when asked about his thoughts on his long time rival's (Danny Green) next fight. "Green's been calling out Tarver, Beyer, and myself. Tarver's not as good as he used to be, so I don't see the value in him fighting someone like him. Beyer's already beaten him twice, and he's retired, so thats not gunna happen either."

Mundine is due to fight French slugger, Thierry Karl in Woolongong in December. This will be the French star's second appearance outside of his home town, and first to Australia. "Whoever they put in front of me, I'll just knock em down." Mundine said.

"Thats what I do man, I'm a warrior. I want to cherish this belt and I want to be ready mentally, physically, every time I fight to defend my crown.''

The Mundine camp has also been in serious negotiations with Mikkell Kessler about a possible rematch fight should Kessler be victorious in his next fight with Welsh WBO champion, Joe Calzaghe. "Kessler's next after this for sure. He's gotta fight me next year or he'll lose his title. He knows it, I know it, it's life. It's probably better for him he avoids me, that way he'll still keep his 0 next to his name, but I'm coming after him."

Tickets for the fight are expected to go on sale in mid October.

Mundine can say what ever he wants. The doctors will not let him fight if he can't see out of one of his eye.

Thierry Karl??? How the **** can Mundine get away with fighting such nobodies/losers in title fights? How can WBA allow this twice in a row? This is even worse than Nievas, but I guess WBA has realised Mundine equals big money, but they should still be ashamed of themselves for allowing a beltholder to fight such ridiculous weak opposition. This makes even Calzaghes easiest opponents look like worldbeaters.:-(

Karl is not even a SMW!

Boxing with only one good eye would seriously diminish your ability to judge distance wouldn't it?

sounds crazy to go up against ANY top competition if you've got that sorta problems.

yeah your totally right - it would affect his depth perception and for a guy who relies heavily on the jab this could spell disaster

Whilst this is great he is fighting again, how the **** do they come up with these opponants.

Its like they go out of the way to choose the most random and unheard of fighter they can find. I reckon the old pull the name out of a hat must be the method they are using, whenever it is someone to good its a "practice".

This guy is tall and hasnt been stopped, so again a no-name fighter who everyone expects Choc to stop (and he knows every expects him to stop) may well end up going the rounds with Choc. So damned if you do and damned if you dont all over again, and its all Team Mundine's choice.
    Just bizarre.

I bet he squeezes in at number 14 or 15 in the upcoming months.:deal
