I didn't know that. He was a speedster back in the day. I remember when he chased down Mullins in a finals match when Mullins easily had about 6 or 7 meters start on him. Just heard that Souths have released Hegarty :happy I wish him well and all, but he was utter crap during his time at Souths, and was on around $280,000 per season as well.
I was at a game where Souths played Manly at Brookvale and the WHOLE crowd was booing him! Pecks, I'm a rabbits fan and couldn't agree more on Hegarty. He's a good player on his day but we just can't wait around for that day!
I think what rubbed people up the wrong way with Field was the fact that he often blew up his team mates and he even bagged a few of his team mates in the media while he was with Souths. In league, no matter how bad things get (and lets be honest, they got pretty bad for the Bunnies back in the 90's) you don't bag your team mates. The same thing happened with MacDougal in 06.
Of course he is, he knows like the rest of us that St Merge are **** and need all the help they can get.
I hope not! It would be good to see him man up and fight Sturm then Green if it happens. There are other ways to grab media attention, no need to put your country down every time...try something new. I know, Charity Work and media blend in a positive way :hey
