Same to you BTT its been good talking to you also , if any of these futue bouts that you talked of apart form the Strum / Sylvester bout come about i will give you your desered props for being "in the know " and sharing it with us mere fans :good
I personally feel Mundine is past past his peak. Top class fighters don't get caught by the Crazy Kims of the world. They do get caught by world class fighters like Calzaghe did by Hopkins. Mundine never wanted Bika or Kessler, that was just salad dressing, when it came to the crunch, he decided to drop to middlewight to avoid Kessler. Yeh right. You think Mundine is coasting when he looks ordinary, however you think Pavlik just 'ordinary' at times (but isn't coasting). Double standards. I never said Mundine can't do anything against top level fighters, what I am saying is that he can't beat top level fighters. Nothing in the past has indicated that he could. Everytime he's stepped it up he's been made to look silly. This year will not define anything for Mundine except that he has is a good B grade fighter and will only ever fight B grade and lesser opponents. I support boxers or what they do in the ring too, and Mundine is pretty good in the ring. However he has not backed up his claims. This is what I have problems with. And it's not a shock to me, I know the guy is fit and talented, however I also recognise he isn't top shelf. I'm not sure why anyone would think otherwise. The media doesn't make a great boxer, great boxing makes a great boxer.
Sure Mundine is past his peak. And yes I did see the Crazy Kim fight. I think Mundine needed that KD too. But take nothing away from Kim he took some whopper shots. At the end of the fight I couldnt believe Kim was still standing. BTT (trash talk, will call u BTT from now on), this 09/10 greatness you speak of should have been 07/08, and Mundine DID have a chance to make it so. After the 2nd Soliman fight he had NOTHING left to prove but to take on a big name. He proved he can beat cab drivers, KO journeyman who've never been KO'd, KO journeyman who gave P4P champs trouble and took to school a man who went on to be world title holder. It was definitely time for him to take on a big name but it didnt happen. Instead he has 6 fights of little importance or consequence. But In boxing every single fight takes a little something out of you, and Im sure 6 fights would speed up the clock. In todays boxing when fighters reach their peak and have a title they carefully plan 6 to 8 fights before retiring, not 6 fights till their next big opponent. Choc will probably beat Sturm, but so what. Lets just assume that somewhere down the track in say 2010 he fights a real big name (eg Pavlik), I really dont want to watch a 35 year old Mundine taking on a Champ. And you cant compare it to Calzaghe who was impressive at 35 coz at that point he was already a well established champ. Mundine has disappointed many of his fans (myself included) and its now too late to undo the damage.
