For some time now I've been telling anyone who would listen how Choc would be fighting in the USA after the footy finals. BULL**** was the reply...WILL NEVER HAPPEN said those that believed in their own misinformation. In the face of mass negativity I wrote how everything that has come and gone was nothing more than a fine tuning of his game and if there was a big fight available he'd take it. Even with the champions out of reach he has taken a fight against a hometown boy on the undercard with an aim of showing his skills to those that matter. He wants to put on a show and upstage Bika. To all those non believers, while he hasn't secured that big fight in the US yet, I'm sure you realise that this is a sign of things to come, and when it does you can all feel better for it....even if it has confirmed your ignorance. :tong
Um Ajay, what about all the other predictions you made during the year re opponents, venues etc... Had to get one right eventually.
No , Mundine is in the same second tier as Bika and Manfredo who also fell short when fighting decent opposition in World title fights , first teir would be blokes like Calzaghe , Kessler , Lacy , Bute etc anyway is Mundine sill ranked in the top 5 @ 168lbs as i thought he went south to middle to avoid Kessler ? . anyway is this fight taking place @ Middleweight ? If it is @ S/Middle then he will become the laughing stock of World boxing Kel .
Mundine has better wins on his record than Lacy and Bute, also Mundine has stepped up more than those 2. Mundine def has better wins than Bika and Manfredo.
People forget, when Mundine beat Echols, Echols was no1 in 2 ABC bodies and no 3 in The Ring at 168(with no champ at 168, only Cal and Ottke above him). The only other champs at the time were Calzaghe, Ottke and Beyer, and most people(if not all, esp yanks) said that Echols was only second to Calzaghe. Sure, Echols had his probs out of the ring, but all fighters that get upset have exuses.
Yea maybe i was giving Lacy a too high rating since he got ruined but Bute and Kessler are both a step up from Bika , Manfredo & Mundine these days . my eyes don't lie Teke , Mundine fighting sub par opponents is begining to tell in his preformances and has put his upwards curve into freefall and its just a matter of time before this becomes more apparent with a beating .
Yes i agree but he is not on par with Bute , Calzaghe & kessler they are top teir fighters , Mundine aint so he will remain where i put him in MY list of S/Middles , hey he can be on top of yours i have no problem with YOUR list . :good
Top tier is Kessler and Calzaghe (their fight happened in Wales and may have been different if in Copenhagen). Next tier is Bute, Mundine and Taylor. Mundine is probably the lowest of the three - mostly for lack of good opposition lately. Next tier is Andrade, Lacy, Inkin etc. (about 10 others) Next tier is Manfredo etc.
I agree with this list. Bute is untested and in my eyes at the moment extremely overrated. I think there is a little gap between Joe and Kessler aswell. Josey i think the last couple of fights Mundine has looked good, at the top of his game even though the opponents havnt been that good. Soliman hasnt been given any credit for his 3rd matchup against Choc, he was very sharp and awkard and came to fight. He would have beaten a shitload of fighters with that performance.
Examples? Before Choc fought Soliman I said the plan was a big fight in the US after the finals. SAdly this is as big as he can get over there but hopefully an entertaining win will set things rolling.
