Lockett was by far the worst - I have never been so embarrassed to call myself British.... he really showed us all up that night.

Plenty of British fighters have been whipped in world title fights here and abroad.... Michael Hunter, Alan Minter (vs Hagler) and Frank Bruno of course, but at least they could look at themselves in the mirror and say firstly, that they had earned their shot (Lockett didn't) and secondly that they gave their best - Lockett was hit a few times, took a knee and begged his trainer to throw in the towel.

People complain at the likes of Tszyu, Cotto and others 'quitting' - that fight was the ULTIMATE quittage.

Why do people who try to discredit Pavlik always, and without fail, forget to mention the facts. This kid won his titles just 18 months ago by beating the man who beat the man. Since then KP fought Taylor in a contractually obligated rematch, fought a WBO mandatory as part of chasing hard after a fight with Calzaghe, fought an ATG at LHW, and fought a WBC mandatory against a guy who earned his shot. He is now making his first voluntary defense, and the Abraham fight is all but done for November.

Make me a list of all the other middleweights who beat Taylor last year.

Make me a list of all the other middleweights who moved up 2 divisions and fought a top 5 P4P ATG last year.

Stick to the ****ing facts folks.

I don't think anyone with beef with Pavlik whose not a troll discredits what he did to get to Taylor. Took the hard road and worked through it to become MW champ.

Trolls will say what they want because Pavlik fans react to it. You don't crack jokes on someone who doesn't react to them. Everytime you guys flip your collective wigs, you feed it.

On a realer not of course...it's hard to sit there and not have gripes with what he's faced thus far in his MW reign. Gary "The Pocket Rocket" Lockett, Mustache Antonio Rubio and now Sergio Bore-a aren't exactly the whose who of the MW world.

It's not Pavliks fault that the MW division is weak just now but his two defenses were absolutely zero risk, especially Lockett. I don't know where this idea that fighting Lockett was somehow going to get him a shot at Calzaghe came from but if it was meant to boost his profile in Britain, it didn't. No-one rated Lockett, not even in over here. The fight got no mainstream publicity, if you didn't make a point of checking the boxing news you wouldn't even have known it was happening. Even Enzo Mac said Lockett had no chance before the fight and he trained at the same gym as him.

Fighting Hopkins is nothing to boast about either given the way the fight went.

I've nothing against Pavlik and do rate him but I would like to see him make more meaningful defenses of his titles.

I keep reading Lockett as a WBO "mandatory" but he fought in no title eliminator and took on noone ranked.

How the **** did that **** happen?

Abraham's last two title defenses were LuJaun Simon and Raul Marquez. His next defense is Giovanni Lorenzo. The record says those guys fight at about the same level as a shot to **** Bronco McKart. What former undisputed middleweight champ did AA fight last year? What ATG did AA fight last year? Which of AA's past opponents moved up and won, or fought for, titles at 168? It's the unbelievable double standard that gets under my skin.

Even worse he went from not being in the WBC top 40 one month to being rated 15 the next, without even having a fight. I think 15 is the lowest you can be ranked and fight for a title under WBC rules.

Lockett was "appointed" as mando; yes "appointed.":patsch
That was HBO's brilliant shennanagins because he was trained by Enzo Calzaghe.

Right. His opponents suck too. Won't even argue that. Marquez at least won a mandatory though...he wasn't just given one like Pocket Rocket.

    No question about it.

Again nobody questions the steps Pavlik took to get to Taylor. Hell Taylor alone is an accomplishment.

Ya know Pavlik lost every round of that fight right? It's not exactly a great thing to have on his resume. Might wanna sweep that one under the rug.

NOT JUST THAT but we're talking about 160. Not a fight at 170 where he got swept on the cards.

Which one of Pavlik's opponents did that? Taylor hasn't won a title at 168 yet although he will. As per FIGHTING for a title, if you fight for one twice like Zuniga did and lost both times..it's not a rining endorsement.

Well ya got me. Abraham's opponents are shitty. I'll do ya one more and tell you that so are Sturms opponents.

You're not exactly shocking anyone here. All 3 have been fighting bad competition...just the Pavlik fans are the only ones who get up in arms when it's brought up.

Like I said the more you guys sell it, the more you show that it bothers you. The more they'll give it to you.

And they wonder why Pavlik-Lockett was the lowest rated HBO WCB card ever.

Lockett was Warr..... sorry WBO mandatory 'cos he was with Sports Network.

Nothing to do with his association with Camp Calzaghe.

I'd prefer Pavlik and AA to duke it out first; that's a long overdue fight, and I'm sick of bloated contenders getting in the way.
