All I've ever wanted was to see Mundine step it up and face decent opposition consistently. Good luck to him if he does.
Sturm is a decent middle contender, lucky to hold a strap. Decent fighter, not elite, but far from poor. Good chance for Mundine to shine at his natural weightclass, if it happens.
Its not his natural weight class mate, he has never made 160lbs and looks like he will struggle to when he has too.
I believe 160lbs is he's natural weight class, if he didn't play footy and build himself in the weight room all those years Mundine would have been a light middle for a few years before moving to middle for the rest of his career. Have a look at Bernard Hopkins, he must be 2-3 inches taller than Mundine. Mundine isn't that tall and is naturally lean anyway. Another example is Troy Waters, he is exactly the same height as Mundine and fought at Light middle most of his life. Mundine makes 160 on his prixck. fighing blokes like Kessler and Siaca at 168lbs was just murder.
Mundine hasnt lost anything in the last two years, he has become to comfortable in fighting easy beats. I think this will be a rather easy fight for him. Mundine will make weight and when he does he will be the much bigger bloke on fight day, he will be fitter, stronger, faster, have the greater punch variety, better footwork etc etc etc. Everything is stacked in his favour, get to the TAB and put money on him :deal
Mundine is the Mandatory for Sturm, but in the end the mandatory can still forego his chance at the title if he so choses. What WILL happen is they wil start negotiating, Mundine will not like the money he's getting and say no to the fight. He will have no problem announcing publicly that the money wasnt right and how boxing is a business as well as a sport... (remember this post)
agreed. Green is a much more likely fight - not because it will be a close match or an interesting fight (TBH I still think Mundine would win one sided fight) or good for Mundine's resume, but purely because of the $$ involved.
