For the record I dont care if you are white, Black or Green, skin colour just dont concern me at all. My favourite boxer is black, my favourite NRL player is black, one of my best mates who is from china married my little sister, and I have quite a few maori mates. If you are white...would you ever say to another white guy..."You white This content is protected because its dont mean nothing...its just not offensive If you are black...would you say to another black guy..."you black This content is protected because it dont mean anything...its just not offensive The term White This content is protected wont offend many whites at all IMO...its never offended me...even if it came from a person who is not white The term black This content is protected will offend almost every black IMO because of 1 reason.... PERCEPTION... Society over the last 200 years in general in AUST deams the balck man as of lesser standing than the white so its racisit and insulting in reference to the perception of the black person as in standing to the white person. Thats why the term White This content is protected wont offend as much as the term black This content is protected when spoken by the opposite colour We are all perception based people.....black and white The term White This content is protected wont offend whites as the perception of being white is a good thing We should all understand this and not think a black man saying white This content is protected will offend anyway near as much as a white person calling a black man Black This content is protected Both colours should just say "you ****' and this would never be raised again. The positive side of this is it gives us the opportunity to think about why one word can offend more than the other :think Peace :hi:
I hate when people go to great lengths to stat the following: My best mates Black or i have friends who are Gay Who gives a ****'n ****....... do they want a pat on the back and someone to give them a medal? It's one of the most overused cliche` used in modem society
Whats the intent of that word....familarity or insult? In general I was talking about AUST and not USA. Care to talk about the more pressing issue in my post?
your whole post seems to insinuate that being white = good, being black = bad. according to who? you? or are you talking on behalf of the general population. anyway this is a boxing forum and i aint getting drawn into race debate, it will never end. if anybody in the NSW side had of said "we gotta shut down that quick white c*&t" talking about Billy Slater, i dont believe we would be having any discussion
You serve me about my post but yet agree with me :huh You say if NSW said white c#$@ about slater it would be fine My point is in our perceptions is an inherant thought that whites are better than blacks...Its not my fault or yours its just a thought perception passed down from generations If I was wrong then what you just said about slater would be bull****
A decade ago aboriginal activist Stephen Hagan took exception to a sign bedecking the grand stand at the local footy ground in Toowoomba an ultra conservative town 90 km west of Brisbane. The sign in large letters read E.S. " ****** " Brown Stand in memory of an Anglo Saxon snowy haired local rugby league footballer of some renown. The sign was erected in 1960. Hagan felt that the sign was an affront to black and coloured people everywhere and had no place in a modern 21st century Australia. The good leaders of the " Garden City " along with a large number of dinosaur mentality supporters fought tooth and nail to have their beloved sign retained. Hagan took his case to the United Nations and with the reluctant support of the State Government the sign and stand were due for demolition in 2009. Hagan a devoted family man wih strong convictions overcame threats and prejudice to come out a winner for all fair minded Australians. I respect him as a man of courage. I'm surprised no one burned the grandstand to the ground. The bottom line is some people are either very slow learners or they just don't get it.
