Which promoter is interested in staging the fight in France?? Promoters stage fights where the most money will be made not where it's convenient for a fighter..
I'm thinking Canelo vs Surace on the weekend of May the 5th, Mexican vs French theme would do just as good on that date as the Mexico vs Puerto Rico did last September 16th weekend.
Munguia most likely gets it, but the KO wasn't a fluke. Frenchie was catching him clean all night and was setting up the KO shot. Munguia has always had bad defense, and it hasn't gotten any better. Even in his peak performances, it was leaky and he reverts right back into a brawler when he starts getting clocked. I kinda feel like the war he had with Derevyanchenko cracked his chin, and Canelo sealed the deal when he dropped him. He looked like he got buzzed a lot in Surace fight, which isn't good. He's over-relied on his chin, and its coming back to collect.
I wouldn't know as I'm not French and I'd never even heard of Surace before he upset Mung. It's more an honour, fairness and doing the right thing for me and the place I come from and how I was raised. As a man, a real man, a man of honour and integrity, I've always been of the opinion that it someone fights you in your backyard it's incumbent on you to fight them in theirs for the rematch or at the very least for them not to have to fight you on a deck heavily stacked in their favour again. I'm sure Surace's popularity will have skyrocketed in his homeland since he sprung the upset so the prospect of doing it over there should be explored and if it is viable Mung needs to get his ass on a plane. And, as said, Mung doesn't even deserve a rematch in the first place. Everything was stacked heavily in his favour and he got laid out by a huge underdog who in his own words is a MW, whereas, conversely, Mung is a CW sized SMW.
yeh he nearly landed the exact same punch, from the exact same position against the ropes earlier in the fight. May have been a round or two earlier. It was definitely not a fluke. I did think Mungia looked lack lustre in there though.
Yup, he was trying to land it through out the fight! If you rewatch the Surace knock down, that's the punch he was trying to land, but Munguia was able to counter him with the left hook.
Mung will make adjustments and take it more serious next fight. Surace should be asking for big money or a better opponent because this rematch is bull****.
Munguia likely wins a rematch but I honestly don't wanna see it. I don't like how common immediate rematches have become in boxing. Immediate rematches take the weight out of losses because the loser gets the chance to rectify their mistake straight away. It used to be that the loser would have to earn a rematch, and I preferred it that way. Immediate rematches should be reserved for special occasions, i.e. 2 great fighters who had a great first fight, like GGG-Canelo 1 and 2, or Fury-Usyk 1 and 2. Not cherry picks gone wrong.
Surace wins again. He has an excellent high guard and his handspeed was the real issue. I thought he had a good chance at the upset I want to see Surace vs Mbilli, Mbilli would win that with his aggression and workrate but it's a great fight on paper
