Yep that is the differance. Munroe could keep to a plan and complete it while Dunne could not. In the build up to the fight all that was mentioned was how Dunne starts fights slow and poorly so it was obviously a serious flaw in his style and on that occaision it cost him badly. Dunne may come back really well but I doubt he can make a serious crack at the higher end of the division, he could maybe beat Munroe at this present time but once Munroe gains experience of fighting at this level he will surpass Dunne.
What I am saying is that Kiko destroyed Dunne and Munroe beat Kiko. Munroe is the current European bantam weight champion. Dunne is a former champion, not because he moved on but because he was defeated. If Dunne has a rematch with Kiko we could find out who is the better fighter but at the moment it is pretty clear that Kiko is a far superior boxer, Dunne starts slow and paid the price.
If you have the fight post it up. Don't doubt Gomez struggled in that bout - even VIP Boxing confirmed on this very board how he was cut above both eyes in the first round by the inexperienced Al Hamidi.
That's obviously a still from the video I have on the last page, but the dvd player on my pc is stupid and I can't rip video from it. I was trying to get some Lockett videos onto my pc for the Yanks who wanted to see him too, but it's just not happening.
atsch Yep. Very simplistic view. I mean thinking one fighter is better than another just because they beat them. Sounds stupid and I hope it does not catch on. I never said Dunne was finished or that he can not progress or that he was not that good to begin with. Dunne is not finished but I do think his best day's are behind him which is not a good thing when he wants to step up in class. He could gain fringe world recognition but I can not see him bothering the top 10. Dunne has always been a decent fighter and rated well in Ireland.
Kiko beat Dunne and is the better fighter. Munroe may not be quite ready yet for Dunne. I said in the build up to the fight and after that Munroe needs a few more fights before going after Dunne. Give Munroe a few more fights and if he continues to impress and progress then Munrow should have the beating of Dunne.
No not always but it is usually very good indicator on which guy is better. Dunne has flaws and Kiko exposed one dramatically. We should judge Dunne on what he does from now on. I will be impressed and glad to see him do well in his career, after all he was a very good European champion for a period. The Machado win was good and I hope he takes on another similar opponent before stepping up in his career. Where do you think he should go and how far do you think he will get. I see little point in going through Europe and would rather he went stateside for a last crack.
Yep. I hope he fights American imports to get his shot. Irish boxing is still popular over threre even with the losses and poor performances of the leading Irish guys. I think he needs help from a major American promoter to gain a shot at a world belt. It is hard to pick an opponent for his next fight but if he comes through that and maybe one after he can start trying to recognised world names that are also trying to get in the ttle mix. I think Molitor and Cabellero would beat him but if he can get anything like back to his best then he could gain favour against one of the other guys. Some of the Irish posters on here mentioned some outside the ring problems after his Kiko loss and I really hope they do not deny him a crack.
I never said I attended, I said I saw the fight. Which you didn't believe, because how could I have seen a fight that you haven't :scaredas: ?
Not really sure how Dunne v Munroe would play out . I missed Munroe's last fight where many felt he was unimpressive ,but at the same time I didn't feel Dunne was that good against Machado . I just hope we get Munroe v Dunne ahead of Munroe v Pickering because Pickering seems really shot to me . Infact I fancy Marsh to possibly stop Pickering .
