Source - Sky Sports Munroe gets the biggest test of his career so far, seems like it will be an eliminator for the WBC, currently held by Nishioka. How will this pan out?
Awesome fight for Munroe. He's finally fighting a European/fringe world class opponent that isn't a slugger. I have my doubts about him against a sharp boxer because he's kinda cumbersome and easily hit. Good test this is.
I like Munroe. Good fight on paper. Havent seen enough of Maludrottu to say how it will go. Quick check on his record, how did he look against Napa? Guessing that was televised?
Munroe UD I think, Maludrottu is the biggest test so far for Rendall but he's nowhere near as good as he is being made out to be.
Napa was reasonably competitive at times but there was only one winner throughout. Munroe presents a different test for Maludrottu though - not sure how he handles the stronger guy, as with you I haven't seen a great deal.
Depends how sharp Maladrottu is and if Munroe can improve on some pretty average performances post Martinez. Looks like a guaranteed 12 rounder anyway. I'd say, if Munroe is on top of his game, he gets a 115-113 ish UD. However, if hes not at his best and Maladrottu is close to being at his best he might just get picked off and slump to a wide UD loss. All depends whether Munroe can close the distance during the fight or whether Maladrottu can stay outside and pick him off. Should make interesting viewing anyway
Looking forward to this should be a good test for munroe. Think Munroe takes it in a close one maybe 116-112 or slightly higher. Hopefully it isn't in Italy
Maloney won the purse bids so Munroe will have home advantage :happy Good to see him mixing with an opponent on the level of Martinez again after the disapointment in his last opponent Netty (3-2 record....).
Good measuring stick to see how he gets on against someone who fought Napa in a title fight and fought for the wbc title recently.
I think Munroe will take this by close decision. I reckon Maludrottu could start the sharper, but Munroe will slow him down with his leaning and body shots and take control later on in the fight. This is a dangerous fight for Munroe and he'll have to be at his best to prevail. Maloney is looking for this to be a final eliminator, however I reckon it would be in Munroe's best interests to face someone better than Maludrottu before he'd fight Nishioka. Of course that's presuming Munroe beats Maludrottu.
Depends where it is. If it's in Italy unlucky Rendell. Maloney's been putting on some good cards so hopefully will be over here.
This will probably go the same way as most Munroe fights. The opponent will win the early rounds and then Munroe will take over as the fight progresses to win a decent UD. Maludrottu was good not too long ago but Munroe should have enough in him to handle the guy. Good test, hopefully get to go see this fight.
Just had a quick look at Boxrec...... Maludrottu hasn't fought since November, and hasn't beaten a meaningful opponent since his loss to Hasagawa. The one thing that concerns me is Munroe's tendency to fight like a sparring partner early on - I like his willingness to suss the opponent out but he does it a little too heavily and for a prolonged period also. Pressing the accelerator a bit more might lead to a few more stoppages. If he can come through this one and look good in doing so, who knows?
