You continue to be the biggest idiot around.

Gassiev has to be a fraud to you because you ran your mouth, said that Usyk's tournament win wasn't that good, picked Johsua twice to be beat Usyk, while claiming that Usyk was just looking for a payout. You also consistency picked Wilder to beat Fury, when the answer was obvious.

One would think that you would have realized that you are a complete buffoon by now.

He's 29, and a ranked contender. This fight can only push him up a bit. The rest of the heavyweight division

    Usyk-36
    Fury-35
    Joshua-33
    Joyce-37
    Whyte-35
    Parker-31
    Wilder-37
    Ruiz-33
    Hrogovic-30
    Mahkhmudov- 33
    Sanchez- 30 (in Cuban years)

    He'll be fine.

No. He beat Tree Lippi Morrison, which is essentially meaningless. But it's an undefeated guy with a bit of a name.

    Like Gassiev's last opponent, he's a 40-year-old absolute nobody.

I have no idea where he is finding these guys.

People are still trying to hype Gassiev up, because five years ago in another division, they liked one of his fights.

    Total fraud.

When is Gassiev going to fight someone at heavyweight?

No doubt about it he is. Usyk is just a bad stylistic matchup for him but going head to head with fighters without a lot of movement like Usyk has (Then again who does really) Murat is a VERY dangerous threat. I think he’s the hardest puncher in boxing and he’ll show this as he gets back into the swing of things. VERY high impact puncher. Especially his left hook.

Dorticos? Who did Dorticos ever beat?

WHEN is Gassiev going to fight someone at heavyweight? WHEN?

    First it was ... he's only 26. Then it was ... he's only 27. Then it was ... he's only 28. Then it was ... he's only 29.

Well, he's going to be 30 this year. And since he only fights once a year, this will probably be it for him in 2023.

And he's fighting another 40-year-old nobody.

Didn't he turn down Filip Hrgovic last year? To fight who again? 42-year-old Carlouse Welch?

    What a joke.

Adonis Stevenson was a dangerous champ five years ago in another division, too. Five years was a long time ago.

"He was good five years ago in another division" doesn't cut it.

Hopefully this is the beginning of him actually taking his career seriously and his march of the rankings. While not an amazing opponent, for where Gassiev is currently at.... more than good enough, especially in comparison to the heinous opposition he's faced as of late. Balogun can certainly crack, granted... that was against subpar opponents, and yes... I include Trey Lippe Morrison in that category. But he's a heavy handed undefeated fighter, who will not be coming for a paycheck and to lay down. So at the very least, we might get to see how well Gassiev's chin holds up against a big heavyweight, and get a better feel on what his ceiling is.

He's not bad as far as comeback (okay he had a 1 rnd fight in August last year, which is ages ago and 1 round with an overmatched opponent doesn't do anything) fights go, he has some pop. I was expecting worse tbh.

Masternak, Kudryashov, Kalenga, MD loss to (an older) Briedis. Not great. But from the eye test, Dorticos is pretty good.

Of course the long layoff is inexplicable to his fans, and also I would agree that this once a year fighting is useless, he should have fought someone in December too.

But he's still just young enough to have another good go. I don't see the need to write him off quite yet despite the above.

I don't think you could expect him to take Hrgovic as a comeback fight, many established fighters (Parker, Hunter, etc.) likewise declined the fight. Welch was useless though, agreed.

Context matters. Stevenson is old and has brain injuries. Gassiev is still young, has power and physicality.

I like this fight. No idea how good Balogun is but how many 20-0 Americans would travel to Armenia to fight Gassiev? It's hostile territory and not a big payday against a dangerous puncher, so it suggests he believes he can win.
