Murat Gassiev is a 24 year old 6'3.5 Cruiserweight with a 21-0 15 KO's record. That's damn impressive considering his young age and lack of an amateur pedigree from this South Ossetian born in Vladikavkaz Russia. Tall and rangy with a frame suitable for moving up to HW when he fills out, this rugged 20 year old who bizarrely looks like he's about 40 is already up to 11th in the WBC rankings at CW. He has a decent jab great right hook and a great left hook to the body which he's capable of landing really well on much smaller opponents which is uncommon. So keep your eyes on this hairy Russian he may turn into something special. :ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg

Yes - his name transliterates wonderfully and should provide hours of hilarity on ESB should this kid come to widespread attention.

Curiously this clip suggests that Gassiev fought the somewhat more accomplished Aslanbek Kozaev - but a bit of digging suggests that while both guys fought on the evening (presumably in the same miniscule ring in what could easily become my favourite restaurant) Murat's opponent was in fact journeyman Roman Mirzoev.

Murat looks pretty solid, and shows some decent handspeed at times, but per Boxrec his 2 toughest fights leave some questions unanswered.

Neither Bacurin or Abdoul are really national level opponents, but not only did Gassiev not stop either of them (which is of course, not obligatory, though Kudrayshev destroyed Bacurin 6 months later) the unusually wide variation on the cards in both cases suggest he also failed to dominate (FWIW Noel Gevor pitched a shutout on Abdoul, and I don't think Noel's all that).

Course the kid is young, but I'd have to see him put in some more impressive performances before considering him above a regional talent.

Anyways Murat's fighting again at the end of the month against French based Turk, Engin Karakaplan, so if anyone fancies meeting up at the 'Zolotaya Korona' on Ulitsa Moskovskaya for Khachapuri, Khinkali and a coupla glasses of Kindzmarauli while we watch the fight in that teeny-tiny ring, let me know.:D

first of all he looks no where near 40, let alone in his mid 20's. He is also not hairy what so ever, he doesn't even appear to have arm or leg hair, which makes him extremely un-hairy.

Secondly you make all these post about all these amazing fighters coming up, but there are only like 20 professional established fighters at best who are must watch, and that depends on their opponent.

There is no way all 40 of the prospects posts you claim will be world champions, will be. I think you just like making these random titles with some weird nickname and where they originate from.

You got greedy doing so many. They are starting to lose credibility. Posting videos of them fighting no name Eastern European bums does them no justice. Just like Deontay Wilder and his epic bum feast means nothing.

I'm not as enthusiastic about some of these guys as I was my earlier threads, but they're worth being brought to people's attention. If you hadn't noticed I didn't hype the hell out of this kid, he's very decent for a 20 year old he may do something, he may not, but it wouldn't hurt for people to be aware of some of these guys before they hit.

And for the record he looks older than me and I'm 34, and his nickname is Iron nothing to overhypey about this title

:good I agree, but he's 20 and he's decent for that age a lot of room for improvement though.

This is true. I guess you set the bar way too high with your "Marco Antonio Rubio: The Poison of Coahuila de Zaragoza" for me. That was by far the best title I have ever seen on this site in the years I have been here.

I love your post and your brilliant titles. It's cool that you bring all these people to our attention, but I just can't believe there are that many good unknown prospects after watching NBC, SHowtime, Espn, and HBO boxing. They barely have any good ones themselves. Damn I can barely watch showbox.
