First of all Murata Golovkin was an actual fight. Canelo Golovkin 3 was a pantomime joke.

Heavy artillery was thrown by both without a care in the world in the Murata fight. And honestly, Golovkin looked more effected by Muratas punches. Canelo's power is overrated, Murata hits harder imo, his body shots look quite nasty.

Canelo gives the illusion that he hits hard with his explosive fast twitchy movement but he doesn't have that KO power. GGG took a fully cocked right hand from Clen once or twice and he feet didn't even wobble and he carried on with usual business. He took a right hand and body shot from Murata and looked to visibly wince.

Golovkin was significantly more inactive in the Canelo fight and looked like he didn't give a ****.

Golovkin was throwing stiff fast heavy jabs against Murata. GGG had Canelo in his range yet for 95% of the time was throwing slow pitty pat jabs, and probing right hands.

So Golovkin is scared of Canelo's counters? But then he is opening himself up to more counters by slowly pitty pattying as opposed to fast stiff jabs. OK. And we can all play the "Canelo defense is so good tho?!" No. Apart from Canelo unnecessary ans excessive stationary upper body movement, Canelo was a sitting duck for most of that fight.

Murata is an insane puncher, but he is not a very good boxer compared to most world level boxers. He had a ludicrously high amateur KO rate, but watch him box when another guy throws on the inside at him. He just stands there and takes it until they stop throwing. Or, at least he does this when he gets tired.

Murata seems to punch through targets. Not very refined, but powerful.

Our man Inoue had a high KO percentage in the amateurs. What's ludicrously high?

I'm still mind boggled of how different Golovkin fought against Murata. He literally stood there and threw heavy artillery not concerned with what Murata was delivering back. He threw hard right hands, jabs, hooks, uppercuts, combos.....

Is Canelo that good of a boxer that GGG was afraid of what would be coming back at him? My guess is yes
Are Canelo and GGG on a level that much higher than the rest of the 160-168lbs fighters?

Clenelo's a speed demon with his fast twitch reflexes. Murata is heavy-handed, but slow. Golovkin was able to see all of Murata's punches. If Clenelo was a slow fighter, Golovkin would easily outslug him.

He is fast twitch but not Deontay Wilder fast twitch. Still seems Golovkin could have had a little more output considering Canelo doesn't throw combos as often anymore.

118 wins, 89 KOs. Truly a gargantuan puncher

Canelo is a good boxer but he should have 5 losses. And he is very one dimensional wel at least post GGG 2.

Neither Golovkin or Canelo were doing anything intelligent in that ring last night and it doesn't take much understanding of boxing to realise this. Golovkin was pitty pattying with the occasional committed jab. He was doing this over and over alongside a frequent probing right hand. There was no setups no chess match nothing. That's why it was so boring.

I implore people to just watch what Canelo is doing. He is repeating the same thing over and over. Jab. Jab or jab jab right hand to hip. Alongside looping telegraphed left hooks. Yes occasionally he is feinting a left hook body and going to head which is pretty slick but the majority of his work is just plodding forwards, unnecessary head movement when Golovkin isnt throwing then looping punching often catching arms elbows hips and air. I'm sorry but if anyone thinks this makes someone a good boxer I don't really have anything to say to you.

Murata is a static fighter but people seem to think Canelo is a defensive master. He isn't, his head is a magnet for straights which we have seen in Golovkin, Lara, Mayweather fights. He is very very good a rolling punches and taking the sting off them, when it comes to hooks and sometimes right hands. But he is inviting for straight shots even despite his head movement wheb stationary.

Canelo has good timing and counters very well. It looked to me as if G was looking for the right moment to throw so as not to get countered.

The guy showed up wasn't GGG, he was an imposter.

I also think the level of familiarity they have for each other produced both respect and caution.
