Murphys Boxing: Mark DeLuca vs. James Williams & Gary O'Sullivan vs. Khiary Gray-Pitts RBR

The crazy thing is this wasn't some unforeseen technical difficulty - they knew about it well in advance; the play by play commentator even calmly mentioned it like ten minutes earlier and then gave a reminder about thirty seconds before they went off air - "remember, you might just have to 'refresh' the Facebook session..."

He sounded like he knew what he was talking about but CLEARLY he didn't. They've utterly cocked this up. We've missed probably all of rounds eight & nine by now, assuming the fight is still going on..

 

@pistal47 here - the fight is over, but I'm rewinding to catch the remainder w/o knowing the result.. (although I have an inkling, might've spoiled myself)

Turns out there was another video put up - not right away like they said, but about halfway into round 8 - but it wasn't put on Dropkick Murphys' page like that goober said, it was on the FightNightLive page..

 

Round 8

(missing the first 90 seconds but from the gist of the commentary, Bazooka has been dominating)

DeLuca has bloodied Williams' nose with the jab and is goring him into the turnbuckle, working the body. Williams slapping down at the nape and scalp of DeLuca, occasionally turning over a short left hook, but this inside brawling isn't his game, Williams can't get any extension or leverage on anything. DeLuca keeps doing the Dempsey/GGG shift getting inside, landing body hooks, and then straightens up with an orthodox left hook on the chin at the bell.

Round 9

DeLuca is grinding in, pumping both hands into the ribs in short underhanded arcs. Williams is having a hard time grappling DeLuca still even when holding onto him by the head. DeLuca is pushed up against the ropes and fights his way off with that old-fashioned isosceles triangle guard, shimmying & slipping punches as Williams shoeshines nonstop up top and even starts peppering the body with seven and eight slap combos.

Round 10

DeLuca is jabbing and trotting counter-clockwise. DeLuca sticking with southpaw down the stretch. High right jabs by DeLuca. Wlliams tries finding the head of DeLuca, who is crouching, slippery. Williams uses the jab like a paddle-ball, just nudging it out in the direction of DeLuca's head but then lining him up for a right hand. DeLuca circles away, skipping to keep the blood flowing in his extremities. Wild uppercut by Williams and DeLuca sways out of the way but wipes himself out doing a face plant by the bottom rope - clear slip, correctly not ruled a KD by the ref. Williams is flurrying and hacking as DeLuca plays rope-a-dope. DeLuca talking some trash while slipping punches, laughing at Williams. DeLuca gives Williams a free shot and eats a jab with a turn of his cheek. Big leaping hooks by DeLuca, clowning, RJJ style. A little shuffle now. Williams ties up and hammers down with his free left hand. Right hand by Williams. High right jab by DeLuca darting in, then circling to his right. They swap huge blows at the bell, very messy, both missing.

Oh thank goodness...when I clicked on the new stream while it was still live they showed Williams being interviewed and he was smiling and looking confident...I was afraid either he got a robbery or scored a come from behind KO in the last couple of rounds. Guess he's just a genial dude.

 

Actually, he really is a class act (Jimmy Williams). He says that his dreams were aimed higher but he respects DeLuca, won't make any excuses (when the commentator feeds him a line about coming up from welter), no saltiness about the decision, recognizes his opponent was the better man tonight and says that down the road he would love to have a rematch after working on some things and earning the right. That might be the classiest post-fight interview from a loser I've seen in a long time.
