I really give Murray a chance. I like his defense and I think he probably has a decent enough chin to last. This one is going the distance guys. Sturm is nothing special and his jab was non existant vs Macklin so I see Murray have some success with getting his punches off against Sturm. I think Murray wins it on points BUT there is always the possibility of a robbery.
I never felt he'd do well at world level a while back, but i believe he's progressed decently and you don't need to do anything amazing to trouble Sturm as Macklin showed it's about being relentless and willing to lead off. Although felt Sturm boxed way back into fight really well. Class jab which Murray needs to affect and stop early doors or face a long night. Martin needs to start fast, he needs to feint to draw the full guard of Sturm and look to dip in attack body then up to head. Really sink the body shots in early like Macklin did. It's not mission impossible IMO, I think he just needs to be smart about this with a bit of movement from head, and a feint or to on outside and really take it to Sturm. Whether he will or can do that i don't know but he's a big MW with good strength and will no doubt fight his heart out. Sturm is rightly favorite to win and likelyhood he will, but i may well stick a few quid on a shock win.
would love to see him do it, i think he has a chance but i think Strum is better than some give him credit for,
Murray can and will beat Sturm. Tonight we have a new champ. Sturm is ready for the taking. Murray will blind him with the jab, bomb his guard and work through and around his full guard defence. He'll work in combos and finish the rounds strong. He'll weather Sturms explosive attacks en route to being the new champ. Sturm was and is a really good talent but he never evolved and his style is predictable and he is protected. He need better coaches who could teach him new moves and he needed to mix it up with Martinez, Chavez, Pirog and all the other top middleweights.
Hes like a Poundland version of Macklin. Thus wont do anything significant on route to a wide UD loss.
People are seriously underating Sturm, although he isn't as good as Martinez he would give any other MW a great fight and probably win
I hope he beats Sturm but I really can't see it, Iv'e seen nothing from Murry as of yet that suggests he's world class, let alone beat probably the second best fighter in the division.
JPab was claiming Sturm would destroy Macklin with the jab but we never saw it, I believe the term he used was a "p4p top 10 jab." Sturm will still get the nod though, whether he wins the fight or not.
Murray will give Sturm a tough test. Sturm is on the slide for sure. Murray has to stop Sturm though which is doubtful.
