Murray eyeing sturm, not Golovkin after Fletcher. How can you not say he's ducking?!

    Seriously.... tell me right now.

He's been the interim for a while, got to keep his fake belt after Sergio so he can challenge the full champion and just flat out refuses time and time again.

2 reason why we though he accepted to be on the Monaco card.

    1. He was trying to build up (against weak opposition that in no way would indicate a build up fight and warm up fight was out the window since he fought in December against a guy who gave him trouble) a fight for Golovkin in the future.

    2. He was going to fight for the regular belt and finally become a world champion while bypassing the current champion (Thank god the WBA refused that B.S).

Now he's targeting Sturm.....while he's fighting on the undercard of the guy he's supposed to fight?

This is sad....there are more people who have claim over him.

Soliman- Beat, albeit controversially, Sturm at home. Although it doesn't count, Soliman is the mando and I thought Sturm won rather easy. Of course he'll want to do that first to get the mando out of the way.

Barker- He has a rematch clause and if he stays in, could fight Sturm one more time in England.

Macklin- His fight was a lot closer than Murray's. Only reason this doesn't happen is if Sturm doesn't want to lose.

Geale- This guy actually beat Sturm at home. There's a blemish he'd want to right. He's also #3, so if Sturm were to fight and beat Soliman, he'd fight somebody in an eliminator for number 1 spot and Sturm could have another mandatory fight were he wipes a blemish clean off

Other lower ranked guys for home voluntaries.

I don't believe this guy... he has a title shot sitting there staring him in the face and he's only talking about Sturm and Martinez.
Yea those are money fights, but those are money fights he isn't going to get, especially Martinez.

Murray has never lied about the fact that he rates Golovkin extremely highly. I think he knows he'd lose.

Boxing is business now more than a sport, he's looking for bargaining chips to go into a fight with ggg so he makes plenty

Murray has no misconceptions about GGG, unlike many people on these boards. Murray knows he has absolutely zero chance to win against GGG, so of course he's looking at other champions. Martinez won't give him a rematch, Qullin maybe out due to the political lines of broadcasters, so that leaves Sturm. Honestly, the WBA needs to force him to fight GGG or lose the interm title. The interm title is basically a marker saying you can force the champ to fight you, but Murray keeps passing on fights with GGG. At the very least the WBA should make Murray fight the #2, Geale, for the interm title. Geale is far more like to eventually take a fight with GGG than Murray, even though Geale just passed on the fight with GGG as the IBO mandatory. Neither Geale nor Murray has a prayer against GGG, so unless they get a huge payday, I don't think either will be taking a GGG fight anytime soon.

Where's the surprise? Like Sturm and N'Dam before him, Murray shows no intention of fighting GGG. I've said all along Murray is very overrated and I don't even consider a true top 10 MW. He's beaten no one of significance and his management display little confidence in him by selecting lower level opposition. He had a close fight with Martinez when Martinez had a busted hand and torn knee.

I don't know what he's supposed to offer going against Golovkin? His speed and punching power are average at best, not the greatest mobility, and he was hurt at the end of the Martinez fight as well as the Sturm fight. He'd offer Golovkin about as much resistance as Adama will.

If Murray-Golovkin never happens I'm very fine with that, there's better fights to be made.

Honestly I don't solely blame Murray for that. Unfortunately, most of the boxers see the sport as a business and they'll do everything in their power to increase their marketability and relevance, so they could earn more money with less risk.

In Murray's case, he'd rather choose to fight for a couple of lower paychecks than challenge the champion and risk losing his bragging rights, but also have an opportunity to become the champion himself. That's not how the things should work and that's why Murray will never be the best in world.

Ward is the only one near triple G with a chance, mostly because he might jump out of a break with a wild shot that catches something. besides him only Lara and Martinez could make it interesting.

Sturm is probably even more thrilled about Murray's decision. Kid Ducks-a-lot is going for Jacobs and Martinez has Cotto.

Yeah, BUT BUT BUT why doesn't GG fight anyone????

Sad thing is that no real end is in sight for Golovkin actually getting another MW titlist.

so boxers who have the chance to fight him, really rate GGG, but keyboard warriors dont... hmmmmmm

he beat martinez and got screwed.. he beat the alleged numero uno at middleweight altho imo thats GGG now. i dont blame him for wanting to a few more fights for bragging rights to get a decent pay day.
murrays world class just not the best, give the guy a break warriors.

Murray knows his level which is why he won't go near Golovkin. He is overrated as ****.

Ward hasn't seriously hurt another boxer with a 'punch' since Shelby Pudwill.

Golovkin's management are about as excited to match Golovkin with Ward as Lennox Lewis' team was to match him up with John Ruiz.

Yeah that's the truth. Like Hagler and Greb (among others), Golovkin will have to wait to be anointed the sole MW champ due to reluctance of the other top MW's.

I imagine HBO will push the Froch and Chavez fights later in 2014. Then maybe Martinez and Ward in 2015, giving the rest of the MW's time to settle things out. Could be someone like Korobov or even Stevens who comes out and unifies the division and then awaits Golovkin.

Murray has already blatantly ducked GGG, so he isn't going to miraculously grow some balls all the sudden.
