Is this genuine though? It just all seems very convenient. *Hammered in front of your home crowd *Admitting to cutting corners in training and having problems away from the ring. *Slated by your promotor and questioned about whether the commitment is there. *Not seen or heard of for a year due to an eye injury. Call me sceptical, but i just don't believe it. Amir Khan, despite all his critics, was straight in front of the media after getting destroyed by Prescott. He was there to answer the questions and state that he'd be back a better fighter. He immediately changed trainers and got his life sorted out. Others on this thread have also pointed to Hatton getting straight back in after the Mayweather loss. Serious question marks over Mitchell's attitude and then zero activity for a year makes me wonder. I agree with the decision for Mitchell turning the Murray fight down. He's in no position, currently, to step in to this fight.
not a mad fan but think he as done it the right way english, british, euro and now on to world we will see if he can hang out at world level :hey
your talking ****. i went to the fight with an aussie and he was one of the only ones. no other major ticket sellers on the show. trust me.
Yes, it was a genuine eye injury that required surgery. He had had problems with it for a while I think- he to wait a certain period of time before the surgery healed - he was then given the all clear to fight again and was originally scheduled to fight on March 19th - before the Murray fight was announced, then cancelled. This is the reason he has not fought since last May. Nothing to do with attitude, he was delighted to be given the all clear and has been training very hard and been enjoying it too.
Mitchell ran his mouth about wanting the fight last month. Frank delivers it and he himself calls it "perfect" at the time. I'd like to hear more of this "politics" excuse. If it is due to inactivity, then I have to wonder if he and Tibbs speak frequently or had it slipped their mind that he hadn't had a fight since May? atsch If this is the case, I think Frank will be ready to wash his hands of him now. This was his chance to smooth things over after his Katsidis fight and he has blew it. Why invest anymore in him?
If injury prevented Mitchell from being active then fair enough but his excuses after losing to Katsidis were pathetic!
It's **** for the fans, but in terms of Mitchells health Tibbs is doing the right thing. Tibbs knows anything Mitchell had is now gone because mentally he isn't there, he would get in the ring with Murray and get massacred. He'll use the "you need a warm up fight", and so on.. but it's basically him saying "Yeah sure you can Kevin.. just a few wins under your belt and we'll do it then...". It's never happening. Murray needs to move on to bigger things
What a brilliant post to highlight that somebody else on the forum speaks **** :rofl Rob you're a wanker pretty much every Warren fighter on that card is a decent ticket seller, maybe not to the extend of half filling a stadium but certainly to the point where 6 of them could help Mitchell half fill it you nob And your mate was one of the only Aussies there too was he ?? You can try and different username but you'll always be full of ****. Mitchell is no big ticket seller END OF !
And if Mitchell isn't ready for the fight due to injury or whatever other reasons then fair enough, I understand looking after your career. but don't come out highlighting the fact that the fight couldn't have come at a better time for you and you're raring for it only to pull out due to inactivity.
Yep, exactly mate. I think some of the abuse Mitchell is getting here is out of line. Ok, he made a big mistake cutting corners in the Kats fight But the bollox being written about him being finished, ****, blah blah is embarassing. He is still young, he is a good fighter. He made a mistake, a big mistake, but her will learn from it and be back. He is determined to come back and be back better than before
