I don't know who manages Mitchell, but Murray is managed by a bloke called Mick Marsden from Leeds.

He runs a gym about three miles from where I live, he looks after Crolla and Sean Hughes too.

I think Stuart Hall still trains there too :think

What exactly is Mitchell's excuse? I don't think they have one. He needs a fight like this, because at the moment his career is ebbing away slowly. He fought a ton of cans in his career and then stepped up rather than getting the right progressions, now he's had injury problems and other out of ring issues. What's fighting bums going to do for him...he's already played that game. This is the ideal fight, John Murray is not Katsidis. He's European champion, it makes perfect sense.

he wanted the fight mate, big time - he is gutted its off. Do you really think his arse has fallen out - because he lost one fight?

Still in training, so will be back very soon.

I clearly sense the North South divide, with the Southerners defending Mitchells 'politics', whatever.

Fact remains Murray has won fights at a higher level than Mitchell, European, and until Mitchell does similar I will not be convinced by him.

I hope Mitchell realises he isnt a lightweight, although Katsidis is a large lightweight i couldnt help but be a little bit stunned at the size difference. I would be genuinely very shocked if Mitchell couldnt shed 5lbs and make some noise at super feather.

I spoke to Lenny Dawes this am, he sparred 4 rounds with Mitchell and said he was in a shocking state, really unfit. He said no way would he be ready for Murray in time

Mitchell should of taken the fight and told Jimmy Tibbs to get on with it !!!!

This kid was being looked at as a potential opponent for Marquez pre Katsidis :deal now they wont let him fight John Murray , its down right ****in pathetic , he's got plenty of time to get in a good solid camp with no excuses , thats if he hasnt already been semi active in the gym !!!

Im going against the consensus here and saying that Mitchell has plummeted in my estimations ...............

Its no excuse , he's got nearly 2 months , the fact he wasnt right at it and we havent heard sight or sound from him after a crushing defeat says it all about the lad .

Sorry no , excuse he should of taken the fight

I think he has done the right thing, he has had an eye problem since his first defeat. He will be rusty anyway, he is apparently way out of shape, why risk it all in what is already a tough fight. If he loses he will be finished. It was said unanimously that he should not have fought Katsidis if his training had not gone well, so he is doing the right thing imo.

the lightweight devision is a jungle of talent i mean what about bringing down guys like john molina jr, Paulus Moses, david diaz, antonio demarco, jorge linares, ali funeka or anthony peterson.
warren can bring any 1 of these guys down to fight murray, murray doesnt need mitchell he needs a tough fight and any1 of those names would provide that
