39 year old Sergey Khomitsky (28-9-2 -11KO's) fought Murray in 2009 in a very competitive fight. Murray dropped Sergey twice and Sergey dropped Murray in the six. A points lead saved Murray as he faded in the remainder of the bout.

The rematch will happen in London.

what a pointless fight. not taking any chances fighting a guy like this.
Sergey Khomitsky is coming off a win vs a guy with 1 pro fight

"rematching" the 147th rate middleweight in the world :)

Eh. :huh Year or too late for this rematch to be of much relevance, innit?

Even so, this beats the French chap he fought after the Sturm draw...so it won't go down as Murray's worst comeback opponent.

Should have used Dec 14th to do extra situps and met GGG in Monacco in February.

Never mind Froch-Groves II - this is the re-match we've all been waiting for......
Still at least all 4 of Macklin-Murray-Barker-Lee will be in action within the same week.
That cant be a bad thing.

It would be a wonderful thing, if the four of them were seeded in a long-overdue single elimination tourney.

Seems like they are planning Murray and Golovkin for April on HBO.

I doubt it. If Barker wins, Murray can use these next two fights to spring board himself to being a leading candidate with Barker (depending on when the Soliman fight needs to happen and assuming he doesn't lose his fight next week).

All said, I'm pulling for Khomitski.

I don't see Soliman ever being re-instated as a mandatory... And if he does, the IBF champ wouldn't have to fight him for a whole year as Barker is fulfilling the mandatory by facing Sturm.

it does seem that Murray is wasting time. why, i don't know. he beat the Middle Champ in his own country (didn't get the decision) so should be focusing on the very best out there. but he's going over old ground that he needn't do. just pointless.

get your head screwed on right, Martin. this does your career no favours what so ever.

    Geale
    Golovkin
    Quillin

any of these 3 will do nicely.

If the WBA move GGG to "Super" Champ and give Murray the WBA belt, Barker v Murray becomes a "unification" fight. (assuming Barker wins on Saturday)
    Seems a likely scenario.:verysad

Which beats getting pummeled by GGG. Heck, vacating the WBA trinket and fighting Barker for the IBF title beats getting pummeled by GGG too.
