IT WAS FUNNY.

The original comment that got artful's knickers in a twist was this one:

...to which I posted ":yep".

Considering Sturm's last (and to my knowledge only other British?) opponent was Macklin, it's a funny comment.

Clearly nobody thinks Sturm raped Macklin. It's universally acknowledged as having been close, the only real difference people have is whether it was a robbery or a deserved close-but-clear for Sturm. The absurdity of suggesting Macklin got raped adds to the humor of the comment.

Were it currently 2004 during the Robert Frazier match and TPB had said "Sturm raping an American bum, what else is new?" it would have been as obvious a reference to recent American opponent Oscar De La Hoya as this here was to recent British opponent Matthew Macklin. It would still be funny. Obviously it wouldn't need to mean I think ODLH is a bum for me to laugh at the comment.

If it were 2008 while he was in the midst of stopping Jamie Pittman (just sixteen months & a few fights removed from having stopped Gavin Topp) and someone said "Well, there's something novel - raping an Aussie bum" it would have been a funny comment regardless of your opinion of Pittman or Topp.
