MW Tournament (Eliminatory Bout): Yama Bahama VS Julian Jackson

It's been a while since I watched Bahama Vs Griffith, although I recently watched Rosriguez beating Bahama on cuts.

Bahama was nails! Jackson on cuts ;-)

 

I'm not qualified to comment on Bahama's hitting power as it's not something I've ever really looked into and I don't recall him displaying too much in either of the two fights I've seen of him.

Well-schooled fighter but I agree Jackson will get his licks in but Bahama was a very tough guy.

S_S knows more about Bahama then me, I think he will be able to make a more informed analysis.

 

WTF the Giambra fight is up? That's moving near the top of my 'to watch' list.

 

Bahama Vs Benton should've happened at some point. They were both around. If it'd been filmed I'm sure it would've been a bout of serious quality.

 

Bahama could definitely be hurt. Emile Griffith had him in some trouble on a couple of occasions.

He was a seriously good boxer though. I thought he outboxed Griffith on the whole, and it was only Emile's strength and roughousing that kept him in the fight. His schooling of Giambra was textbook, but Giambra looked fairly average in that fight I've got to say. Probably not a style match up that brings out his best qualities.

Bahama would outclass Jackson in the boxing department for sure, but it's questionable whether his chin holds up to some of Jackson's bombs. As VIC said, Bahama was hittable, despite his boxing ability.

I'm a big fan of Bahama but I'm sitting on the fence on this one.

 

I like Jackson by late tko,say 7. I wanna really say Bahama A class fighter RING annual ratings or fringe contender

 

Stitch was more of your Mayorga bar-room brawler type, and I think Bahama would do better against a more conventional hitter like Jackson.

That said, it only takes a shot or two from Jackson and it's lights out.

Incidentally, how did you score the Bahama-Stitch fight VIC?

I think it's one that can be scored quite differently depending on your preferences.

Clean, but not that effective jabs vs. not clean, but still rather effective power shots.

I would have given it to Bahama, but I can definitely see the argument the other way...
