Oh man. I don't know. Apostoli was a force. And Giardello may have been than LaMotta. This one is worse than Conn-Marshall. Damn.
Both in their respective primes ? Fred Apostoli for me. A great fighter having to take on the likes of Freddie Steele, Billy Conn, Al Hostak, and prospering...
I think Apostoli would stay on top and wear Giardello down. He was a dynamo, as Billy Conn said. Apostoli by unanimous decision.
Based on picture evidence I'm going with the very masculine looking man over the 7yo boy. Apostoli, more sexy than Sexy Sergio?
Apostoli impressed me with his skills....he looks really good..... And he is proven enough to beat probably anyone at his best...... I´m a fan of Giardello and his counter-puncher style.......but my vote goes to Apostoli, the better defensive fighter IMO, in a hard and skillful fight, really close one.... Apostoli SD.....
Apostoli's best filmed performance is probably against steele but even then despite being a force he doesn't look massively impressive in comparison to some of the other greats. I think basilio looks better than apostoli on film despite not being as hard a puncher. Joey could outbox apostoli but it'd require great discipline to prevent apostoli building unstoppable momentum. I think joey should be favoured to take it on points but it wouldn't be a huge shock if fred scored a come from behind stoppage. Am I completely crazy for envisioning a cotto v margo 1 type fight but with the turning point being about round 11 instead? I think fred finishes strong but i'm betting on joey to withstand the attack and take a 9-6 type decision.
