the fighters taking part: Stanley Ketchel Frank Klaus George Carpentier Billy Papke George Chip Les Darcy Let´s give those fighters some spotlight, some of them are often overlooked and forgotten.
Well, Ketchel and Klaus fought actually and that fight was a ND. I think you are underrating those man, especially Chip and Darcy.
Yeah, but Ketchel was probably high on opium and drunk during that fight. Plus he more than likely was up all night before cruising brothels.
Ketchel gets a lot of press. Ok-- I think he could hit, but honest Ketchel seems like the worst skilled old timer I saw on film. Ketchel can be seen vs Johnson, and Papke. Maybe these films don't show Ketchel at his best.
I know about Ketchel and to a lesser extent Carpentier and Darcy but Klaus, Papke and Chip are overlooked most of the time. What do you think of those guys?
Darcy was/is underrated no question. We will never know the greatness he could have achieved but it looks like he could have been a top ten P4P when all was said and done. The most competitive fight would be George Carpentier v Stanley Ketchel-I'll take Ketchel by late KO.
