Defense, defense, defense. Defense takes the most time and work to learn. He makes that his first priority and becomes great at it, he can choose any style he wants. He needs to respect punches and be aware of them not so much fear them. And please don't put him to spar until at least 3 months getting his basics down. They get so eager then lose interest once they find out its such a grueling sport. With defense it will be more fun and they'll love it. The kid will lose abit, but more likely gain weight since still growing I'd just help them with basics up to them what style they comfortable with. Finito Lopez, Salvador Sanchez, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Julio Cesar Chavez, and Julian Jackson would just be some to start off with.

He should decide which fighter he should watch based on what hand he leads with, his height and reach.

Gotta be Ward surely. Hopkins or early toney isn't a bad shout either. We can't all be prime roy jones in athletic gifts but we can be get a calzaghe level fitness which will be invaluable. Hard work is the and fitness is the first level.

He needs to watch all of the good fighters and take some pieces of them all.
