yeah learning to fight inside and NOT get hit is the key. most i find in the gym who go inside completly forget about footwork and technical skills and just swarm thinking it's effective.

in the amatuers ray leonard was known for his speedy combinations and inside work the jab and move was just to not let the man set his feet.

i was a 5'9 welter and came against a 6'4 with nos skills but plenty of length.
im not boasting or anything but he didnt know how to box. so i just picked him apart with a jab and lead lefts (southpaw) then mixing it up with a hook or uppercut.

but my first big lad i just didnt know how to deal with i was so used to punch down...or at least sideways that when i had to punch up to get to the body it just shocked me.

i think learning to let your hands go is the be all. you have great form for a novice and decent defence. im pretty sure he will prolly get sparked along the way. the way he holds his hands down so low and comes in against a more expereinced and sharper fighter.he will pay for the sloppyness

how was your nose by the way? you learn to just take punches. it isnt like creating calluses on your face or anything. your nerves just switch off from the chin up when you get into fighting mode.

good stuff tho. it's clear it was just a style change up that caught you off balance so to speak. good work sir.

Yea, i'm gonna try to start incorporating a tighter guard and more bobbing and weaving. Lately I haven't been doing a lot of inside fighting... i feel i lack the stamina for it, so i lose confidence about staying inside with someone. I guess i'm just gonna have to bare with the fatigue and work their body so they'll be worse off than me.
    Thnx for the feedback.

Yeah, my inside game needs a lot of tweaking. I didn't think fighting big guys would be a problem for me, but honestly punching up was pretty difficult. Sometimes when i tried to thow a right hand over his jab, i'd be hitting his shoulder cause i couldn't punch high enough. I really do need to start throwing more combinations... Heh that means i'm gonna need to start working a lot more on my cardio and muscular endurance.

Oh and my nose is getting better thnx for asking. I think i'll be able to spar tomorrow. I'll try to incorporate the advice i've been given. Mainly, throwing combinations, keeping a tighter guard, bobbing and weaving and more inside work.

    thanks alot. yea that's me.

I know it is prob. easier to say don't sweat the loss and such with me coming off a win...but I really do believe it to be true. Amy gives great advice. No one likes losing, but sometimes we learn more in these type situations. You got a good style, so take from that fight what you can. I think it is good you are already looking at how to improve and humbly sharing that fight for people's ideas.

Got a match set up in Missassauga on the 18th that looks good to hold at HUF, so if you happen to get there...make sure to say hello. :)
