For historical importance & being a fan of Duran (which I am) I agree... dont get me wrong, it was a teriffic fight but just not as good as the ones I listed IMO.

    :good

Well, to be fair, you had a 50/50 chance as their were only 2 fighters to choose from  :good

Great call. Thats in my personal top 10 EVER. Some great fights there that i wouldnt want to place above others but i think Fidel Bassa/Dave mcAuley 1 should get an honourable mention

Bassa Mcauley is a bit overrated i thought.

Maybe it's just that i can't quite get past Mcauley's massive headbutt.

take your point although it would have been even harder for you to get past the pair of balls he showed in that fight. Maybe im looking through rose tinted specs as i was at the fight as a kid and the place was electric that night

I bet you've picked plenty wrong too, like all of us. Cooney had an incredible amount of support, based on

    1. He was white, exciting and had frightening power.
    2. Holmes was much disliked and VERY underrated and unaccepted.

Duran vs Barley makes my top 5 of all time, let alone top 5 of the 80s.
