I think Mayweather is The harder puncher. Faster Stronger in a functional sense. Fresher Better technically Better athletically Better tactically Makes better adjustments Has better footwork Is more handsome (it's close)
True. Cotto is decent when it comes to timing the attacks of others. But its been a long time since hes had to deal with the speed of Mayweathers. The last time was against Pacquiao. Hes suffered one more horrific beating from that, and has spent the next 3 years against slower, lesser quality, past-prime opponents. When he steps back up to that elite level against Mayweather, hell have to hit the ground running. Mayweathers the smartest and most precise puncher in the game. Thats a really small window (getting shots in to the rib cage and midsection). Because with the speed, accuracy and conditioning all going to Floyd, I know which out of the two attacking arsenals I favour.
Mayweather is going to be looking for Cotto to go with the left hook to the body, and when he does, you can bet every cent you have, Mayweathers got a right hand zoning in on Cotto as soon as he flexes to throw it. Then he'll dare Cotto over and over again to throw it, knowing whats coming back. If you throw bodyshots against Mayweather from distance, youre wide open, and youre basically serving yourself up for the slaughter. If you get in close, he smothers. Cotto's bringing nothing Mayweather hasnt already seen and dealt with easily before. Hatton brought the same game, but with more fire. It was dealt with easily. Cotto's training, IMO to throw a lot of punches, hoping Mayweather cant take pressure. Mayweathers fitter, knows how to control a fights tempo, and everything Cotto thinks he's bringing, will by round 4 have been taken away from him, and he'll be getting battered.
PBF's speed will bother Cotto, but the major keys to victory is Floyd's ability to make in fight adjustments and supreme stamina down the stretch. If Cotto lacks more than what is already expected in both these departments he will be made easy work. I see Cotto making it competitive for the first three rounds while working behind his jab. Once Floyd makes the adjustments around the 3rd or 4th round Cotto better be ready to make his own or its all downhill from there.
Plain and simple Gentleman. Floyd will kiss the canvas at least one time. Cotto will make PBF his girl for the night, and will defeat Mayweather via KO/TKO not later than the 8th round. Mark it in your calendars Gentleman, Cotto by KO/TKO! Yo voy al mio! War Miguel, Guerra Cotto!
He's had people from 154-168 in his camp to spar and was going to work on them all. People look at this mystique about backpedaling and being defense but Shane felt enough to back the **** up. I hear it all the time, Floyd has underrated power.
Floyd is the more accurate puncher, but I don't think there are many punches that Floyd could knock men out with more frequently than Cotto could. Could Floyd hurt Mayorga, knock down Clottey, or rupture Pacquiao's eardrum?
I think most would agree the difference in power punching ability is not exactly night and day. Though I must and will stick to my guns when stating I rather get hit by a Floyd straight right rather than a cotto left hook to the body any day of the week twice on Fridays.
