First of all kessler was never looking for a way out like i heard from a few of you and ward wasnt the one doing the magority of the holding. I dont think the butts were intensional nor do i think the outcome woulda been any diff. Kessler wasnt being thrown off or confused by ward. He was rusty from having such a long layoff. His timing was clearly off and got better through out the fight. The fight went exactly as i thought it would with the exception of the headbutts. Ward was faster and had more of an arsenal of punches. He knows his distance real well similar to mayweather. Plus he knows how to fight southpaw unlike dirrel. He also changes levels well and often. Good balance aswell. No suprises in the 1st round of the super six so far. I even called a 12 round ko in the abraham fight. In the 2nd round ill take Kessler over froch, ward over taylor, abraham over dirrell. Froch disappointed me more than dirrel impressed me. I dont see anyone beating ward, same as i said be4 the super 6 started.
Kessler held on after Ward cliched to prevent Ward from punching when he pulled away. But Ward INITIATED the clinches.
Exactly! That pattern from Ward was clear from round number 1. That's why I'm sure the Ward plan of roughing Kessler up was designed by his team.
They were two mythical beast on this forum that can beat anyone but doesn't fight at all- Guzman and Kessler. Kessler is gone Guzman is going to get beat by Funeka.
If they fought again, anywhere, I don't see how you could bet on Kessler. Ward was faster and a better boxer. Kessler didn't land jack. Ward doesn't have real KO power and Kessler was still throwing hard untill the end. I can imagine Kessler connecting and changing the fight but I wouldn't bet on it. Other thoughts: Showtime made a weird mistake when they said that Kessler had fought Miranda. I also like HBO's slow motion replays between rounds alot better than showtime's. HBO has a knack for isolating big punches. In general I think HBO is better at boxing at this point. It is one thing to come to the US and fight in Vegas, but to come to fight in a fighters hometown-a "real" city like Oakland- seems like a tougher task. Kesslers little 10 person cheering section looked minimal. I wonder if that had any impact on Kessler. Abraham is still my pick. I think he wears Ward down and out toughs Froch.
Anybody ever heard of tactical fighting? An ass whoopin' is an ass whoopin' no matter which way you slice it.
Right on. Good points all around. I've been behind Ward since this Super Six was announced as well. It's Ward's time to shine in this tournament.
Good point. Abraham-Ward is a hard one to pick and luckily there are a few fights to go before then. Abraham-Dirrel could be telling. Kessler-Froch will be very interesting. As far as saying AA could wear down Ward I mean that Ward will be spending more energy firing at AA's shell and then running then AA will be. Also, AA has one punch power and maybe enough quickness on the attack.
