In this matchup I see Taylor outpointing Froch using superior handspeed. He'll be waiting for Froch to get off first and then throwing combinations and then moving away (or clinching as the fight wears on).

The thing that worries me about Taylor is that he does have a tendency to get hit flush and also he has stamina issues. Froch also has some minor stamina issues but unlike Froch, Taylor is not a very consistant body puncher. So if Froch is landing solid blows to the body early on, expect that to come into play later in the fight because Froch is very heavy handed.

Froch is gonna want Taylor to engage him, but Taylor will not do this. Although Taylor is not exactly a counterpuncher, but he does like to choose his spots and Froch is the kind of fighter that will give him the time to do this. That is why I think Taylor wins the fight on superior handspeed.

I think the best style to beat Taylor is to take him out of his rythym by always pressing forward and using a high workrate. That's not Froch's MO.

Taylor UD, maybe by 3 or 4 points

Taylor by decision seems like a good bet, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a stoppage.

Taylor has some very solid unheralded counterpunching skills, and I expect to see him hurt Froch badly given the opportunity. And I suspect he'll have alot of opportunities.

That's a reasonable post. My pick is Froch by TKO11.

I would just point out that part of Froch's stamina issue is due to his taking flush shots. Taylor has work to do if he wants to pick this flaw out.

however i just heard an interview with Carl Froch on "In this corner" and it seems that he has a good strategy. He says he wants to put Taylor on the backfoot, especially in the later rounds. I think thats what he needs to do

    the interview is on tsn.ca/boxing

Froch has admitted to having suffered from stamina issues throughout his career, even against the calibre of opposition that wasn't hitting him flush much. It's just the kind of fighter he is.

What's your take on Haye-Wlad McGrain?

Just intrigued because you've picked exactly the same results I have for the 2 big up-and-coming fights, Hatton TKO10 and Froch TKO11. My pick is Haye KO5 for what it's worth.

Yes, Froch's strategy is to use his jab early to keep Taylor from getting into a rhythm, go to the body, counterpunch him with precise effective shots and put pressure on him late on with heavy punches in bunches. Throughout, he will aim to be as unpredictable as possible, varying the rhythm, selecting all sorts of shots and angles.

Sure. So do I, but Taylor is rightly seen as the favourite.

The good news for Taylor is that he will be allowed to clinch and that clinching will work against Froch, who is a clean and fair fighter on the inside.

If i was Froch i would forget about counterpunching, stick to the jab and the body shots for 3 or 4 rounds, and then turn up the heat

    its not his style though.

It won't be counterpunching in the conventional sense, because Froch doesn't have the speed for it. It will be counterpunching in the sense that he will not mind Taylor moving in past his jab from time to time if it means he'll get the chance to go to the body, use his uppercut and back him up a bit. Froch will aim to change the pace a la Hopkins, and then through the barrage of power-punches, backing Taylor in a straight line, once Taylor is falling over his work headhunting. We've seen Froch do this kind of thing in the past.

The only one thing that bothers me is Taylors psyche.
I still have my doubts that he's recovered totally as a fighter, we'll see tomorrow night.

Hunger and motivation is the bottom line for me too, in this fight. Froch will be keen as mustard. If Taylor isn't, he'll get beaten and stopped.

Judging by Taylor's attitude, basic demeanor, and comments in the leadup to this fight and the final press conference, I'd say his psyche is looking pretty damn good right now - but that's just my opinion. I'm already starting to feel bad for Froch, no barb.
