Yes, first week of training you will feel many muscles you'd never used before, and some muscles you do use but not as intense as a regular boxing training day.

The tip: Stretching every single muscle after the workout and before taking a shower (warm body), your body will hurt less the next day.

PD: I guess what hurts are your muscles of the mid section, not your ribs.. otherwise go see a doctor.

Cheers for your reply mate i did think so i will need to make sure to do stretching after workout as i did not do this actually.

And yes you are correct i did mean mid section muscles and not my actual ribs haha

also you mite find if you have a break of more than a week or two you will have to go through the pain again when you start back

I was thinking of starting to go just once a week for now, Is that not a good idea then?

at least 2 times a week should be the minimum otherwise you will not really get anywhere

yeah boxing is a demanding sport, once a week just isn't enough to advance properly. but in answer to the question, this is normal for your body. make sure your eating right aswell to recooperate after sessions, but try and get into the gym 2-3times a week and your body will start to get used to the training in time.

Yeah it took me a good 4 weeks before I could start doing more and more sessions, its just your body getting used to using new muscles and different demands.

Have a long soak in the bath and keep stretching off
