    Yes, steroids most certainly DID exist then. :-(

    I'm not done with this thread yet, to let that be known.

    Steroids existed but they werent being used commonly as performance enhancers in athletes and certainly not outside of Eastern Europe until the very end of Johnson's career. Even then they were primarily being used in sports such as bodybuilding and weightlifting. I think it is more than safe to say that Harold Johnson's physique was not the product of Steroids.
