This is my theory on the Canelo Alvarez - Austin Trout situation.

First of all, I will be greatly disappointed if the Canelo-Trout fight doesn't happen on May 4th. So disappointed that I may not even purchase the PPV. I am beginning to think this was a sham from the word go. I hope I am wrong, but here is a theory of mine...

Richard Schaefer tells Canelo to get on twitter to "confirm" the May 4th fight against Trout. This shows that their star is able, willing and ready to face the toughest challenge out there in Austin Trout. This gives Canelo credibility and only makes Golden Boy Promotions look scared to challenge their young star. This would explain why Trout's people are essentially in the dark about this fight. They haven't received a contract or even been contacted, as far as I know.

The same way Mr. Schaefer told Mayweather to get on twitter and say Devon Alexander is his May 4th opponent. Of course, this was done for a different reason. Schaefer asks himself, "How can we make fans want to see Floyd fight Guerrero on May 4th?" The answer is, give the fans an opponent they would hate to see against Floyd and then they will love the idea of Floyd fighting Guerrero. It makes sense.

Again, this is only a theory of mine. I have absolutely no evidence that any of this took place. I am happy with the Mayweather-Guerrero fight, but will be disappointed if Canelo fights anyone other than Trout. I am a big fan of Canelo Alvarez and want to see him take on the toughest challenge out there. Trout is that challenge! Come on Golden Boy Promotions, make it happen.

The fight will happen, Both Trout/Alvarez have all but said the fight was almost a done deal... GBP's put out the feeler's and the people are demanding they let their future star step up.

Great fight, Just announce this **** already ya ****s...

I actually think GBP probably did not want Canelo to post that. As much as Canelo wants to fight Trout, and I really do believe he'd fight anyone, we know Richard and Oscar don't want that, now at least.

Definitely! Canelo wants the fight. He wants to be challenged and is capable if being victorious. I see it as kind of a toss-up fight, but I think Canelo's faster hands and greater activity will defeat Trout. Still, I want to see it!

It wouldn't surprise me if Team Ginger is trying to pull a fast one on Trout. The fact is Ginger has known he was always going to fight on May 4. Trout may or may not. He doesn't know. It's probably smart to leave Trout's people confused as long as possible to get a leg up on preparing for him while simultaneously leaving Trout with less time to get ready. I think Canelo has probably already started to prepare for and strategize for Trout specifically whereas Trout probably isn't even sure if he'll fight on May 4 or at any time in the first half of the year yet.

Richard Schaefer is on record saying that a Canelo-Trout fight is a big fight on its own. This tells me he is building it up and saving it for another day. I know these promoters get on this message boards and read what the fans are saying. They see how much we want this fight. It is good promotion on their part, but it sucks for us!

Well, on the scene Austin Trout is saying it is almost a done deal. I was underestimating the fact that Trout has Mr. Al Haymon in his corner. I hope my theory is garbage because I really want to see this fight. To me, Canelo-Trout is the main attaction!

they should have more faith. Alvarez outboxes Trout fairly comfortably IMO.

I agree.GBP is saving Canelo-Trout for their own PPV broadcast. They will put someone else in the ring with Canelo on May 4,in my opinion-or won't place him on the May 4 card at all.

LOL, so 1 says ginger has faster hands, the other says he'll outbox Trout. I'm now convinced that these guys have never seen them fight.

Time will tell what's going down. I wouldn't be surprised if the fight doesn't get made. It seems like everyone (forgot) that ginger's people claimed to be waiting for a signed contract from Floyd to fight Trout. Why would Floyd need to sign on any dotted line concerning ginger/Trout is beyond me.:nut

Trout is NOT this slick boxer/fighter people make him out to be. I expect Canelo to touch him and touch him often. Trout's jab might bother Canelo for a few rounds but its not the type of jab that's going to nullify him like people expect. I take the Canelo from the Mosley fight over the Trout from the Cotto fight.

I have seen just about every one of both Trout's and Canelo's televised fights. I feel very comfortable in saying Canelo has the faster hands. Neither of them are Roy Jones for crying out loud.

I agree with this assessment. Except I do believe Trout gives Canelo quite a bit of difficulty with his lateral movement. Trout's movement is not very fast, but he uses it well and fights smart in the ring. I say Canelo wins a decision if this fight ever gets made. I am still of the opinion that they are saving it for another day. Someone mentioned the possibility of Golden Boy matching Canelo with Angulo or Kirkland. I wouldn't be surprised at all if one of those fights get made. Not bad fights mind you, but after talking about Trout, these fights are bull**** in comparison.

I guess we will just have to wait and see how bad Haymon wants this fight. He is supposed to be the most powerful man in boxing. Come on, Haymon, get it made!

they wont fight kirkland because james has the ability to ko canelo and permanently ruin him and they cant fight angulo because eveyone, including the biggest canelo nuthuggers, will be calling canelo a ***** for doing so(recently ko'd/seven month prison stint/looked like crap against a ww in last fight).

and thats why well have canelo/trout-lara on may 4.

its truly funny how none of the canelo nuthuggers were justifying angulos name as a possible canelo opponent until he looked like absolute **** in his comeback fight against a welterweight and after cotto all but eliminated himself in a fight against canelo.

    canelo nuthuggers...so transparantly clueless.

anyone even remotely trying to justify angulo as a may 4 opponent for canelo has got to be the biggest pink dick cocksucker of them all.

What?! Canelo would kill no-chin Kirkland! He almost gets KO'd every fight! Canelo-Lara would be a very difficult fight for Canelo. Lara is a skilled boxer. I still hope for the Trout fight, but Lara isn't a bad fight.

Kirkland fans: The most clueless fight fans in recent history!
