My fight notes, transcribed. Thought Id post these for once. Defend my call and such. Close ass fight, both real talented guys. Herman deserves a rematch, he was coming on hard late. Round 1: Paulie 10-9 Paulie jabbing, Herman chasing. Paulie landing jabs to the body, Herman missing. Flurry with left hooks connects with nothing but shoulder. Paulie lands a nice counter right, and a good 1-2 as the round closes. Herman swinging and missing all this round. Paulie pins him and scores. Paulies round, Herman got nothing done but eating jabs. Round 2: Paulie 10-9 Paulies jab posing a real major problem. Herman lands a good left hook to the body. Paulie outboxing him following this, lands a flurry and keeps connecting jabs. Herman trying to go to the body, not landing and eats a jab to the nose whenever he tries. Paulie scores with a right. Paulie lands the jab nearly at will. Herman gets rough, lands some body shits. Paulie lands a nice triple jab. Herman chasing and missing, finally gets off a decent right to end it. Paulies round, Herman;s two big shots do little to erase the plethora of scoring leather from Paulie. Round 3: Paulie 10-9 Herman is aggressive, but is eating the jab when his wide swings miss. Left hook by Paulie knocks Herman off balance. Combo by Paulie, sequence of bad misses by Herman. Herman lands a nice right. Takes two following. Herman just not landing right now. I am proven wrong as Herman lands a nice right. and another. Close round all of a sudden, but Paulie did the early work. Three shots didnt quite get it done for me, but this was a close round. Paulie good defense and Hermans lack of jab slipping to me is my tie break. Round 4: Herman 10-9 Jabs to the body land by Paulie. Paulie connects a cuffing hook and slips. Herman pounces after he gets up with a nice right. Paulie lands two body shots, Herman gets off another right. Works Paulie to the ropes, and gets a good hook off of three wide misses. Paulie gets it back to ring center, sticks Herman with a right, but Herman misses force Paulie back and Herman gets in a left. Paulie lands two rights to the body, avoids Hermans counter attempts. Herman swings and misses more, but the pressure is definitely on. Nice jabs by Paulie. Herman lands a snapless double hook, Paulie lands a snapless right. Round ends, and Hermans on the board, but that round was also close. I could have given in to Paulie for better boxing and more scoring blows, but Herman did get in the double digits of connects finally, and the blows were heavy. Round 5: Paulie 10-9 Herman very aggressive, but continues to miss and Paulie stinging him with jab counters. Herman using one at a time big swings to try to erase his being painted with jabs thus far. More misses by Herman, and Paulie finally lands a counter right. Herman pins him, misses 6 big swings and takes a right by Paulie as he circles out. Some jabs by Paulie blocked by Herman, but his offense is ineffective. Paulies shoe gets fixed. Herman pins Paulie, but Paulie holds and gets out. Countering with jabs is Paulie. Herman has landed nothing of consequence thus far, and as I write this note Herman lands a good right. Herman follows with a hook to the body. Paulie misses a one two, Herman swings away and misses all but one of about 12 swings. Paulie outboxed him in the one pretty clear. Hermans shots are hard, but he got about 5 of them in, and Paulie swamping him with jabs. Round 6: Paulie 10-9 Herman opens with a good right. Lands a jab on the jabber. Paulie jabs, but Herman is catching it real well suddenly. Paulie counters with a nie right, and is not allowing himself to be pinned on the ropes. Lands several jabs to the body, eats a left hook. Herman not swingin away anymore, and as a result isnt looking as stupid in his offense. This appears educated pressure. Paulies jabs begin to find face again, but Hermans left hooks and occasional right hand are starting to do so as well. Herman lands a counter jab, Paulie responds with a 1-2 that sets up a good left hook connect. They trade lefts. Paulie lands a right, Herman responds with a missed flurry. Close round, but the jabs are the edge here. Herman looked better though. Less of the Im swinging like mad and more of the Im pressuring you look. Still, Paulie takes this rounds on better boxing. Round 7: Herman 10-9 Herman lands a great right. Paulie responds with a right after a break, but Herman scores another good one. Roughs Paul in the clinch. Herman puts together a double jab and a 1-2. Herman raking Paulie all of sudden. Paulie fighting panicked, getting hit in between his shots. Paulie tries some rough stuff, gets a good right in. Herman roughs him up back. Body shots by Herman. Two good rights inside by Herman. Paulie getting beat up. Paulie pins Herman with a good combo. Herman swivels his head with a big right. Paulie actually pushes him back, but now he is the one getting hit. Hermans round big time. More shots, bigger shots, better boxing. Round 8: Paulie 10-9 Paulie tries to jab more, and the effect is apparent, as he resumes his tepid outboxing of Herman. Herman gets nothing done in the first minute, and Paulie lands the jab and manages some pretty defense. Paulie landing that kab and Herman is back to landing nothing. Paulie stunting Hermans offense with speed. Herman has yet to get a good connect and two minutes are gone. Good 1-2 by Paulie, Herman rips a left hook to the body. Herman goes at Paulie, gets spun and tagged with some short shots. Herman gets of a right hand that Paulie walks into, Paulie jabs Herman back. Herman surges forward and gets a partial connect on a left haymaker. Paulies best round since the second. The blatant headbutt and the jabs Herman is feasting on are enough to give Paulie the round. Herman got great inside stuff done, and it was close. Round 9: Paulie jabbing and moving again. Herman pressuring hard, and is trying his round 6 and 7 economical pressuring. Paulie lands some sharp jabs. Herman and Paulie exchange twice. Paulie lands a good left hook. Herman fires a 1-2 that sets up a good left. Good jab by Paulie. Herman roughs Paulie up in a series of clinches, and his payoff is a good uppercut. Paulie scores with the 1 of a 1-2. Two 1-2 combinations by Paulie to close the round, and one jab and one right of those four punches scored. Paulies round, but he is edging these with jabs and better boxing. Herman whacks him, but not enough and he is missing too much, giving Paulie defensive points. Round 10: Herman 10-9 Not much pretty stuff going on, but Herman lands some big shots and is roughing Paulie up. Herman serving it up in the clinches. Paulie keeps him off well with jabs though. Herman getting through with more power punches though. Hermans having a good round. Its rough and ugly, but Herman is landing the bigger stuff, and they are actually serving up equal connects. Paulie throws swift straight shots that are blocked. Herman pressuring, and wins the closest round of the fight narrowly on this card. Paulie just got hit alot, the defense wasnt there. Paulies uppercuts arent having as much of an effect as the commentators think. They kept the round close, though. Round 11: Herman 10-9 Herman begins to maul Paulie. Paulie isnt jabbing near enough. Herman getting off body shots. REAL sharp right by Paulie gets him out. Glove fix.Herman throwing combinations after eating three sharp Paulie rights. Herman getting good body work done. Paulie lands rights, but Hermans pressuring is finally effective. Bad headbutting though, Herman getting alittle rough. Paulie landed great rights in the last 20 seconds, but spend the previous minute getting ripped. Round 12: Herman 10-9 Herman tries to maul, cause its been working. Paulie trying to time Herman with the right. Eats a left after doding two rights. Misses by Herman, but he lands a great right finally. Hes missing a ton, but landing hard leather here in the 12th. Paulie tries to explode with speed. Herman lands a head snapping jab. Paulie splits the guard with and uppercut, but Herman mauls him. Paulie more elusive now. Herman chasing and landing rough punches to the arms and chest. Two big rights in a clinch by Herman catch my eye. Paulie lands a sweet shot, but gets clinched and beat up afterwords. Herman tries to close the show strong, but misses wide swing and eats Paulies best shot of the night. Still, Hermans round.
