My challenge to you guys ..if you have the time..is to compile a list of the top 15 or 20 young U.S. Heavyweight prospects who have a chance to maybe go on to become a champ somewhere down the road. I can name a few that are undefeated and have some potential but I want to see if you can come up with others that I don't know about. Thanks. Here's the guys that I do know something about. 1. Chazz witherspoon 2. travis kauffman 3. Alonzo butler 4. Travis walker 5. Chris Arreola 6. Chris chambers 7. JD Chapman 8. David Rodriguez
** Note all of the guys that I listed are undefeated figthers..but don't be afraid to put a guy who has suffered defeat already..as long as you think that they have potential. many fighters have suffered losses early in their careers to go on to become great champions.
Personally I'd pick Kevin Johnson to beat anyone on that list. I like his potential and am looking foward to his upcoming ShoBOx fight. He tends to be left-hand happy and isn't always the most exciting fighter but he beats that entire list. While he might be the most boring prospect out there I think Malik Scott would beat that entire list and would be even money with Chambers and Arreola. From what I've seen of those fighters you've listed only Chambers and Arreola have any signifigant chance at being a top 10 guy or even a title holder. But I would like to see a few of them more, especially Witherspoon.
Minor correction to your list. "Chris" Chambers is the underachieving wide reciever for the Miami Dolphins. There was also a character named Chris Chambers, portrayed by the late River Phoenix in the movie "Stand by Me". I believe the fighter you are referencing is the solid defensive, quick handed yet feather fisted undefeated American heavyweight "Fast" EDDIE Chambers. Though given the sad state of affairs, perhaps the Dolphins wide reciever could make some noise in the heavyweight division.
That's an awful list. The guys I've seen there are awful. Is on guy on this list in true quality shape!
None of these guys is going to even sniff a world title. The guy with the best chance and the most talent is Eddie Chambers, but he needs work before he takes on any of the current champs. Kevin Johnson is garbage from what I've seen. Left hand happy is an understatment, I don't think I've ever seen him throw anything other than a jab.
While I don't think Johnson is the next Joe Louis I think he's better than garbage. There's nothing great in that list of fighters so the jab would actually be enough to beat all of them, except Arreola and Chambers. Like I had mentioned Johnsons not exciting at all to watch but he has some tools. The left that he does rely on far too much is actually not bad. He has some speed, athleticism, and confidence. I'm not going to say he's better than Povetkin but I think his upcoming bout will tell us a bit more about him and with a weak crop of American heavyweight prospects to choose from I'd say he is the best at the moment.
The list should read like this ; 1.Chambers 2.Arreola The rest have little or no chance of winning a title
