4-2 Pavlik or 3-3 a piece, plus the KD round for Taylor, IS being objective. Taylor was very lucky for the KD round, which Pavlik suffered a broken nose, otherwise the bout would have ended earlier.

He simply unraveled and got stopped. People are acting as if Pavlik was lucky, Taylor was lucky for the 2nd round.

Smoger is as much of a puncher's ref as you'll ever hope to find in boxing. The guy's got a hell of an eye- he saw Taylor was out, and I didn't even notice how bad it was until the slo-mo replay. I thought it might've been premature until I saw that, and how Taylor really wasn't moving much until well after the stoppage. Smoger's also no fool in that he knows both fighters- the last time someone was in Jermain's shoes was Miranda, and look how that wound up. All the prolonging of that fight did was put that much more damage on a fighter who was already out of it.

The ref absolutely made the right call.

Better than what. I rewound the thing several times and watched it real time AND in slo mo.

Pavlik WAS GOING TO WIN! I am not disputing this for a second. Taylor was gassing, Kelly was gaining steam (another thing that impressed me....). That punch hurt Taylor and he was going down.

But, he was not out. He was not in danger. With an 8 or 9 count, he could have continued.

I have NO IDEA why that is so hard for people to see.

As for the pic....Taylor was defeated. He sat there for a few more and was talking fine, shaking his head (and this was RIGHT AFTER IT HAPPENED...go watch the video). Hardly the actions of a man who is KNOCKED THE **** OUT!

Saying Pavlik was going to win is fine. Saying you were right that Taylor would be stopped is fine. But to say he couldnt continue and was done at THAT point....thats just not.

Again, I think when the euphoria ends....people may see it differently. Of course, some will never admit it.

I will watch the whole fight again...but again, 2 out of 3 judges had it the same as I did (one had Taylor up even more).

I thought he dictated the pace VERY WELL. He was timing Kelly and countering him just as well up until the 7th. He was MUCH MORE ACCURATE. He was landing the cleaner shots.

One last question Am...do you still think that Taylor is china chinned?

sue you can be a "man" by admitting that taylor got stopped. jeezh, the honor you display.

the reality is you are spoiling pavlik's win. "taylor was doing this," "taylor was doing THAT".

who gives a ****. the punchstats do not reflect YOUR VIEW of events. saying anyone who thought pavlik was up after 6 rounds is insane just shows how much bias you have in your heart.

taylor owned pavlik in round 2. that was it. every other round was close. and could have gone either way. nothing was clear outboxing. hell, i thought pavlik was thumping that dumb skull of taylors far more than the other way around. where taylor got MORE punches landed in total i believe was due to round 2. if it wasn't for that round, pavlik would have been outlanding taylor in virtually all rounds :deal

you go all defensive and say how taylor is a class act... which he is! why don't you follow your boys example and show some class.

    nothing worse than a whiner

I think Taylor's chin is very average. You misunderstand that Pavlik is much more of an accumulation puncher and that the right hand that landed was one of the only fully flush shots that he actually really timed and sat down on, many against the ropes were just flurries to set up bombs such as that.

At SMW, Taylor will be routinely destroyed if he fights any decent guys there. It is evident that the SMW crop is better than the MW cop.

Tonight's contest was between two B level guys in the grand scheme.

The way it works is if a guy is unconscious on his way to the apron and taking punches the ref HAS to stop the fight.

Or you can rattle off some recent pugilistic examples that clearly show the contrary.

    First, **** off...:good

Go read my post...I was actually saying Kelly was doing this and Kelly was doing that. All I said was I had Taylor up...and that it was a quick stoppage.

Actually they landed near the same. With Taylor landing at a MUCH higher %. Please tell me which punch stats you are reffering to please? Because the ones from this fight fully back how I was scoring it.

And since you are so enlightened....you should know punch stats are only a small fraction of how a fight should be looked at.

I stated why I had Taylor up (something I was not planning on doing...I was just conceding and bringing up what I felt was a bad stoppage).

Please tell me why Pavlik was up? Prior to the 7th, he was being countered. He wasnt landing flush at a high rate (tho he did land SOME BOMBS!!). He was showing bad defense. He wasnt dictating the pace. HOW WAS HE WINNING?

Again, you look at it biasedly, yet call me biased.

Taylor didnt just outland him. He landed at a higher %. This didnt just happen in one round. While I go rewatch this fight...I think you should do the same.

    Second....**** off! :good

Now how is coming in here, giving credit where credit is due (I said Pavlik impressed me and changed my outlook on how the fight was going to turn out.....) not showing class.

Did I insult Pavlik? NO! I said he proved me wrong in fact.

Did I attempt to take ANYTHING AWAY FROM HIM? NO! I said he showed me alot and I KNEW during the 7th, when he landed the first big one that I felt he was going to stop Taylor.

Did I score the fight any different that MANY OTHERS DID? NO! This is the main thing. If you score the fight correctly, Taylor was up. I know how to score a fight....everyone of the regulars will tell you this. And I am telling you that Taylor was winning.

Did you come in here spouting EVERYTHING that you are accusing me of? YES! I.E. - Taylor's dumb skull, Taylor only landing more because of the 2nd, yet ignoring he landed at a much higher %, etc.....

I am known on here as one of the more unbiased posters. Please dont come in here with all of that bull**** and accuse me of it.

    And third, **** OFF!!! :hi:

Nope. Look at how he is laying on the apron. Both of his hands were down, his head was slouched over, and his legs crumpled.

The dude was out man. Unconscious. If not on the way then he was definately out on the apron.

And watch as they are circling him once Smoger backs up, he had people slapping him and ****. He was clearly out.

I have always said that Taylor would be up near the top of SMW, but would never beat the likes of Calzaghe, etc. I think we have spoken on this many times.

Taylor has a decent chin. Another I never truely disputed. I have said its not nearly as bad as most were saying.....china, glass, etc. He took some big shots that would have dropped many other fighters. Again, not a great chin, but a decent to good one at best. I think he proved that.

I still dont agree with B level...but what can ya do.

Regardless, tonights fights were great. Two of the better fights this year.

You need to go watch it again. He was still covering up as he was going down. He was hurt and was again, going to the canvas....honestly looking like he was trying to take a knee (easier said than done when someone is throwing BOMBS AT YOU). Only after Smoger jumps in between does he slump to the canvas, more defeated than out.

If you watch, immediately after, he is talking and shaking his head with a disgusted look on his face. He gets up, storms around the ring and him and his team LEAVE.

If he was unconscious, NONE of that would have happenned. They would have treated him, had doctors watching over him, taking every precaution in the book before they even allowed him to stand.

Why do you think he stormed out of the ring? To go to the bathroom?
