I agree. Werdum beat the best and should be placed at number 1, Wedum has also beaten many more top guys. This dropped Fedor to number 2. Bigfoot then beat the number 2 and should thus occupy that spot. This drops Fedor to number 3 since Fedor still has the best and the most accomplished record. The top 3 should look like:

1 – Werdum
2 – Bigfoot
3 – Fedor

Next would be JDS who is probably the most experienced and the best record in the UFC.

4 – JDS

Then it should be Barnett and Overeem/Cain. Overeem has tons of experience but not enough top HW opponent whereas Cain doesn’t have much experience, not enough tough opponent but does have an unblemished record.

5 – Barnett
6 – Overeem/Cain

I cant see placing a fighter who runs away from punches (Brock and Mir) or a fighter who gasses out in the first 4 minutes of the first round (Carwin) as a worthy top 10. I would even have Sergei Kharitonov in the top ten over Mir, Carwin and Brock.

 

JDS should be ranked over Barnett and over Cain, like ive said he is the most experienced and has fought the most top fighters in the UFC currently (and still be relevant). Cain is too inexperienced.

 

Cain at #6 is laughable

inexperienced? He's has just as many big fights as Bigfoot. Who somehow makes it to number 2???

I think Overeem and Carwin are the wild cards on the list, although the reem hasn't beat many big names at HW he prob is the most capable of beating anybody. Carwins another guy who has a good chance to beat Cain, he was close to finishing Brock before he gassed and might be able to neutralize Cains wrestling.

The fact is that Bigfoot beat Fedor and according to many pundits including Dana, you have to beat the best to be the best. Fedor was the best and both Werdum and Bigfoot beat him and so deserve to climb up to replace him.

Bigfoot (18 fights) and Werdum (19 fights) is allot more experienced than Cain (9 fights). Cain’s big fight only consist of Nog (who is way way way past his prime) and Lesnar (who in all honestly really isn’t a worthy contender). I wont mention Werdum since its painfully obvious. As for bigfoot a win over Fedor > Cains win over Nog.

According to Bas Lesnar isn’t a real fighter since he cant even take punches and runs away. Brock is lighter than Bigfoot, less skilled on the ground, less skilled standing, and cant take punches as well. If Fedor fought Brock then Brock would have been knocked out in the first round. So I think that its you who haven’t watched both the Fedor and Brock fight.

 

Werdum, Silva, Cain, Santos, Overeem, Lesnar all rank ahead of Fedor.

 

Im gonna reserve my judgement until Barnett and Reem/Werdum fight because in my opinion their rankings are just conjecture at this point
But on the whole I still agree with my 1st post in this thread

Some big statements there ;


#1 Velasquez , #2 Overeem in itself big statements

Fedor and Nog down at 8 and 9 , a sign that these 2 legends are falling off the pace of the new breed HW's

Lesnar as high as 5 , is controversial as is Carwin 7 .

Its all opinion based , and this list is mine .

Edit ; done the right thing , ive actually ranked Werdum even though i dont rate him that highly at all .........

It will change drastically IMO. Reem-Werdum winner will either legitimise the no.1 or legitimise a top 5 (if Alistair wins) JDS smashing Lesnar will solidify his place and force Brock out of the top ten. Fedor is still in there. Based on previous form and the fact that he won a round at the weekend, he is obviously still as tough as they come. Has he lost half a step? Without a doubt. Has he still got enough to beat most of the top ten? Probably.
Kharitonov vs winner of Barnett (inactive, just outside top ten) and Rogers (powerful, gave Fedor a good go, somewhere between 15-20) would give the winner a chance to break into the top ten. Sparking a glass chinned Arlovski is not enough IMO. I fancy Barnett to reach the final and one of the 6-10 spots on my list.

Silva doesn't go that high on my list. Didn't really impress me too much against Arlovski or Kyle (late change of opponent made him look god awful? possible) but gave Werdum a bloody good go and just manhandled Fedor. Seems he put it all together on the night and was a stylistic nightmare for the GOAT.

Why Nelson? Wins over Struve and Schaub were very impressive IMO (the supposed 'new breed' :yep). Well-rounded, and very durable. If he beats Mir I don't see why he wouldn't cement his place towards the top 10-15 with most people IMO.

Werdum has Silva and Fedor as of late, one via conclusive sub in the first minute or so.
