Some of the dumbest rankings I've ever seen. IMO Cain (even though UFC champ) is still a bit green to be P4P #1. JDS of course to green as well. Give these guys a couple more fights, and I'm not going to count JDS smacking Lesnar around the ring as something to rank him higher. Beat some good opposition...not over the hill fighters, and that'll please me to rank them higher. Lesnar sucks, people who are think he's something besides a gorilla with no heart loved him in WWE waaaay to much! If he could take a punch, and didn't act like a little girl in his last fight I'd rank him top 10 even with the loss. BUT AGAIN anyone who beats Lesnar (at least striking) doesn't get credit IMO. IF you outwrestle and sub the guy...I'd give some props. I wouldn't currently rank anybody as P4P #1 right now. I think once Overeem wins the tournament...After all the great wins he'll accumulate he'll be the clear P4P #1. Fedor slips a little bit, and Overeem is there to take his place.
You mentioned P4P. You are aware that this is a current HEAVYWEIGHT rankings thread, and not pound for pound right? JDS knocked out the guy that made Fedor tap, and his last several other fights are as good or better than anything Barnett has done lately. JDS's heavyweight record put's Overeem's to shame at the moment. Mir and Carwin are regarded by many as top 10 heavyweights. Lesnar beat them. Are you going to just ignore that? Overeem may have a legit claim to being his division's best by winning the Grand Prix, but he will not be the sport's P4P best by winning this tournament. I'm not familiar with your name. Are you part that morono and sloth type crowd?
Mir and Carwin top 10? Why? Mir has never been all that dedicated, or great IMO. He's some got decent wins, but typically over old or limited guys. Carwin was knocking peoples heads off til he was found out..The guy can't breath after 3 minutes. I'd hardly rank those guys top 10. P4P or current heavyweight rankings. P4P: What have they really done? Current Ranking: They have not done **** lately! Carwin has been MIA since losing to Brock, and Mir beat an older than dirt CroCop. So, Lesnar beating them doesn't mean much to me. HE inched by Carwin, lost his first fight to Mir, and if Carwin would actually train to fight (not train to throw a few punches, and hope he finishes them quick) then he'd have beaten Lesnar as well. Lesnar gets pimp slapped by a guy who weighs 40 pds less in Cain. It's one thing to get knocked out COLD (that's alright), but whenever your getting hit with a weak punch, and breakdancing around the floor to get away...You do not deserve to be in any HW rankings, nor do you deserve to be classified as a man. As for JDS knocking out Werdum...Yeah, that's good no doubt, but even Arvloski (who has become a joke lately) beat Werdum in the past. Fedor would have Werdum knocked out as well if he wasn't wreckless. This in MMA. As we've seen lately everybody can lose. Every fighter has different strengths, and different weaknesses. SO, I don't watch one good win (and maybe a bunch of bums, or old washed up fighters on the record) as being the top HW in the world. Plus, you have to factor in on how they won of course (how well did they dominate). It's like some of your cutoffs for Current HW ranking is watching there last fight. If it's not then lmk on what timeline are you ranking? How far back are you going to rank these guys? It's like Fedor is currently ranked 1020230 because people look at his 2 more recent losses (one which he was winning to he was wreckless, and the other he showed more determination than Brock Lesnar ever thought was possible). Then, we look at Mir who beat CroCop in his last fight, and he's ranked top 10 apparently. Carwin is top 10 even though he got beat by Brock, and has beat nobodies except mir. Cain is the best due to the fact he beat Brock freakin Lesnar LOL, he's undefeated, and has the belt that Lesnar used to wear. C'mon now. I'm not discrediting Cain, or JDS. There great fighters, and will do well. Just have a little consistency as to why these guys are ranked like they are. Overeem has been dominate for quite a while now, hasn't lost in ages, and has more wins than both of these guys combined....BUT yet there's quite a few people not even ranking him in there top 5.
Well, where is your list? No one here put Mir or Carwin over Fedor in their rankings. Also, as far as overeem goes his HEAVYWEIGHT record matters more than his overall record, and he has very significant losses so I understand not ranking him super high.
I can't under any circumstance understand how Brock ranks higher than Fedor. Even in their losses, Fedor when out like a warrior and Brock turtled. That alone pretty much says it all.
How can anyone in there right mind put werdum ahead of JDS? Those who even thinks about putting werdum ahead of JDS should go watch UFC 90 and look at the match werdum vs JDS and then tell me who is whos *****. Also saw that if a fedor vs lesnar when down lesnar would win, even if fedor has dominated the HW for 10 years and is now going down fast he would have a win over lesnar
Something like this: 1 - Cain Velasquez 2 - Fabricio Werdum 3 - Junior Dos Santos 4 - Alistair Overeem 5 - Big Foot Silva 6 - Fedor Emelianenko 7 - Brock Lesnar 8 - Josh Barnett 9 - Frank Mir 10 - Shane Carwin Its a ****er of a list to make though.:think Cain is No.1 by default more than anything else. He's now the UFC HW cash cow (champion), and has the big win over Brock. He's basically No.1 on my list because of the Fedor losses, and the fact that Werdum (one of the Fedor scalp-takers) has that recent JDS loss, which keeps him off No.1 spot for me. Werdum was blugeoned by JDS, but he is the first to legitimately beat Fedor, so he's No.2. JDS has looked wrecking-ball-esque so far, with some high level wins. Of course his stock rises with the Werdum victory over Fedor - that's the nature of the beast. He's solid at 3. Overeem is high up because he "could" well be the best of the bunch IMO (potential-wise). We just need to see him in the fights that matter, which will happen in the Strikeforce tournie. He could be number 1 in the near future. Bigfoot is in there because of his good showing over Fedor, who drops in below him. I don't think Lesnar is as bad as some make out, and although JDS is probably my favourite HW at the moment I don't see his fight with Lesnar as the complete walkover some have suggested. Lesnar therefore makes 7 on my list. I have to admit that I don't know a lot about Barnett, but his comp since the last Big Nog loss hasn't been great - he's in at 8 because of past achievments. Mir and Carwin are solid lower end top 10 guys, and so they occupy places 9 and 10.
