For the last 2 months I've been doing nothing but eat healthy, sleep early and train hard and often. I've been training since around November. Result is that I'm in great shape,my body looks much leaner than it did 2 months ago, I can easily train 4-5 times a week without being fatigued the slightest. And the best result has been how much my boxing has improved. Guys who used to beat my ass during sparring are now being flurried by my jab into a corner where I work them with 1-2 combinations. I can throw my jab much faster, harder and consistently now. My reflex have also become much better, I block so much out of reflex now without leaving big holes. I can also go 3 rounds without being tired the slightest. I hope that I'm ready to do amateur fights soon, but my coach keeps ****ing about my footwork, I have my backfoot sidewards which is part out of habit and part due to my Achilles Tendon being too short. I know he is right but I'm just not comfortable with the standard footwork. Also have to thank you guys since you have given me a lot of tips that I incorperated into my style and have worked wonders. The only thing that took a hit is my social life, I never party anymore or go to fastfood places with friends after college.
Footwork is key bud, if it wasn't for footwork i would never land a punch on anyway, footwork allows you to do anything in any way you want as fast as you want
I am always looking to improve, I already passed the stage of being too confident. When I first started I sparred with other new people and all the fights were slugfests, when I got better at "slugging" I got too confident and got my ass kicked by people actually boxing and not slugging. Which actually resulted in a nose injury and a small hole in my ear drum. I got really demotivated and wanted to quit boxing. Took 3 weeks off and I started up again, totally revamped my style and started to actually box smart. That was around begin january ever since then I've been building on my current style and left the beginner class and started boxing with the advanced class, took me 3 weeks to adjust to their level and be able to spar with them on their level. Since most of them train 2 times a week and are either past their prime (40+) or have an unhealthy lifestyle I'm starting to actually outbox them (Well the ones on my weight level, the veteran guys who weigh 220lbs or more still beat my ass but they've been training 10-20 years) Really hope I can join the amateur fighter soon since training with better opponents really is the best way to get better yourself.
